hi there, planning on doing a grow shortly in a 2x3 foot space about 5-6 ft tall and would like to know a few things.

i'm getting a 400w hps light w/ euro reflector and would like to know if i could get away with using only one 6" inline duct fan(250cfm) to keep temps down?

p.s. will have separate vents/carbonfilter for cab/tent

thanks, loghead

I use the same fan and reflector for my 250 watt HPS and it works great. It should be alright if you have another exhaust with the carbon filter. Good luck

Yeah that's about the same space as my flower cab. Should work fine.
I have a 400w HPS in a cool tube with a 6" inline attached and ducted out.
Sucks plenty of air out the area and straight off the bulb.
Works perfect except when it's a 110F+ outside.
Make sure to position your duct up near your bulb to suck as much heat off it as possible.
Here's a pic of my set up.

if u r talking about the 6 inch fans for 35 bucks they would be good for about 1 grow then u would have to invest in a better 1..I had 1 then the fan blade started making noises i couldnt deal with lol..

thanks for the quick replies :leaf::lol:

well, the fan i bank on buying for the 400w hps is going to be 25 usd and if needed i would buy another one down the line. or maybe possibly 2 4" inline fans with 6" to 4" reducer duct to have two fans, one for intake and one for exhaust. and that would be just for the light. vs having one fan for the growlight?

yeah it would be good but instead of investing in all of those fans buy a better 1 for your grow room and keep the cheap 1 for your grow light

yeah, going crazy on the fans. i was a little trashed while writing that and wasn't thinking very clearly haha still am too. idk i'm thinking of maybe no euro vented hood for the hps and just have a good exhaust fan for the whole box/tent. idk, has anybody personally grown with just the standard 400w hps light with 4 sided refector (htg)? temps don't get too high do they? can i get away with using the 95 cfm activeair blower system in a 2x3x6 space? 265 active air blower system may be too loud but if it'll work better with keeping temps down i'll buy it, plus only $20 more.

I was replying to Mammath's setup.
Thank's for noticing 'Sub'
You damn right too.
Have since taken the inline off the cooltube, good idea but not the space for it.
Fan runs above now out of the grow area and just ducting from the tube, no kinks!
Appreciate you noticing, your the only one who has.
+ Rep for a keen eye.

Yes i used the reg 4 sided reflector and it works good but with the euro reflector u can place the light closer to your plant canopy therefore increasing the yeild instead of burninig and strecthing your plants. The 6 inch fan will do good for the light a 4 inch will do good for the box.

Those Cooltubes are a great idea for large grow rooms.
You can place them close to your plants without burning.
My dream grow room, I would have 3 rows of 3 banks of
1000w MH. 9000w of power, just think of your yield in 10
x 10 spare room.
The Smell! Holy shit! Don't forget the charcoal filters!

yeah that really sounds like a dream growroom. My plans are to upgrade to atleast 2 1000s or 3 600s depending on who gives the deal when im placing the order.

alright cool thank you whytberry, so if i'm using the 4 in for the box i can just put a few holes, maybe 2-3 holes 2-3" in diameter b/c it creates a negative pressure right? well, maybe some pcv on the holes to prevent light leaks.
