so i think i have a problem, I have a 400w hps ballast and hood in a closet that messures rufly 5x5x9 and I think the room is way too hot. I have a feeling the room isn't getting enough fresh air even though the door has a crack underneath it about 2" from the ground up. Also I'm only growning 1 plant just some pretty good bagseed I got obviously you know where:), anyways I'll put up some pictures either later today or tomorrow. any help on the temp. thing would be help...oh, doesn't someone make a little micro mini a/c???

damn near 90, i've got a vent fan that i took out of my bathroom and i put it at an angle to the crack under the door to try and draw fresh air air in but itdoesn't seem to work...I also got a n 18" fan put blowing the heat from the lamp away from the plant. the plant is lower than the fan, and it blows horizontally between the lamp and plant.

cut a whole in the cieling and put an exust fan in blowing out.cut a hole in the door and install your intake fan. keep you other fan to cool the light an move the air. that should drop your temps...

Approaching 90 is getting risky for your plants. A 2" crack does not sound like sufficient ventilation especially when it is at bottom and there is no method in place for expelling hot air therefore essentially trapping it at top of box. I also think that without proper intake and outake, you are also going to face difficulties with odour control in the future. If you are only growing one plant but using a 400w hps for 18+ hours a day, that doesn't seem very economical. If your plant turns out to be male, you will have wasted all that power on nothing. When you say 5x5x9 is that feet? If so, that is a lot of space for a single plant.

i cut a whole using my trusty sawzaw and put a blower pointing up and that helps tremendously. thank god for home depot....ok check this out im gonna change topics for a minute, I am using an organic soil, nutrient enriched. Also i have a water pump submerged in a 20 gallon container and i run a "sprinkler" like device that i dreamed up that sprays water into the pot the entire time my light is on, I know it's not hydroponics, but what if it actually works the whole time, so far 2 weeks into it, the plant is great. Is it possible to keep this up for 3-4 months???? Soil + hydroponics.....maybe, just maybe???

you will have problems if it stays wet all the time. You only have 1 plant, just water it yourself.

I am in the same boat man... Same closet space and same equipment. My temps never drop below 80 (usually 85-90) with the light on. I keep my closet door open all the time.

If I could find a non-window AC unit for a closet at 100 dollars... i would be sold. The cheapest i could find is 300.

I also purchased this for odor control.

I know with my door being open to the closet, i will have to keep the door closed to the main bedroom. Which also means i had to purchase more CFMs. =/
