400HPS and 1000 HPS

Ok guys I currently have my Widow growing under one 400 HPS. I used the same light for growing and flowering. Now that I have a little more money I want to upgrade my lights and use the 400 for the grow cycle and buy a 1000 HPS for FLowering. I wanted to know your opinions on how much of a difference I will see. Is there a big difference in the elctrict bill? Any thoughts please

oh yea...How much should i plan on spending on a 1000 watt hps

That depends on the region you are located at most of the time. For me I utilize 600's because they are efficient in terms of electric consumption, decrease in heat production, and can move it closer to canopy of plants in comparison to a 1,000. A 600 watt HPS about 3 ft away from canopy produces the same amount of lumens as a 1,000 watt HPS about 4 ft away.

I agree about the 600s, that's what I use, my reasoning is I run 6 lights, and with 1000s I'd only be able to run 3 1000s without using more amperage.

You definately will see an increase in yield, if it's not because more lumens it's because more area.

Standard 600 = 3ftx3ft
Standard 1000 = 4ft x 4ft

If heat or height restrictions might be an issue go with a 600, they cost about the same, expect about 250-300 for the ballast, 100+ for a bulb, and hoods range from a cheap batwing, to a 300 for an enclosed reflector with cooltube.

I'd go with a 600, but my opinion might be biased.
