400 watt hps.....

how many plants on 1 - 400 watt hps??? thnx in advance! ive learned alot on this site!!

i have 8 under mines, my room is 5ft by 2 ft seven feet tall workes nice for me

most books ive read about growing cannabis for a 400w - 8 plants

1 plant per 50 watts IE 8 plants. I got 7 right now under my 400w hps and they are about 2 and 1/2 feet tall 4 weeks into flower but they are sativa so they are still 2 months away. I hoping they will be about 4 feet at harvest and give me at least 10oz.

However if you are going from non-feminized seeds Id recommend starting at least 12-14 plants so that when they are big (in flower) you have about 8 females. And if you have too many thats always a good problem.

you could probably squeeze more too..I have 6 under my 150's

dont look at it as how many plants under that light, think of it as how many plants can you fit in a certain area....a 400w hps will cover 8sq feet at 50w per sq foot which is optimal...so as many plants as you can pack into 8sq feet...right now i have 17 1 gallon bags in 5 sq feet under a 250w Mh...the babies are only about 11 days old...im not sure if im goin to upgrade to a bigger tent and just keep the smaller one as a veg chamber of if im just goin to upgrade my lights, keep them in the small tent and lollipop them

It kind of depends how you're growing them too. When I initially read the question I said to myself, "4 plants under a 400." But I like to train mine to spread out horizontally for thicker and more evenly-distributed buds. But yeah, you can probably do a good job with about 8 under it if you're just letting them grow straight up with minimal training.

My last grow I had 4 under a 600 with amazing results.

hahaha o well thnx 4 the advice every1! im very greatful! i have a 4ft by 4ft area.........packed 16 of em in there ! in 3 gallon buckets! non fem seeds...too much???? actualy 16 sq ft i guess..... but i move the light every 24 hrs....

you have plenty of room but you need another 400 in there, if you just keep the single 400 your prolly gonna get smaller, loose buds rather than dense tight ones...
