I'm fairly new with 3 successful stealth grows under my belt. However I would like to step it up a little. Im looking to purchase a 3x3 gorilla tent so I need some advice on what all I need.

Medium/Nuts- I'm using fox farm ocean forest soil and fox farm nutes

Lighting - I prefer to use LEDs for a different number of reasons. Please correct me if I'm wrong but is 50watt per square foot ratio needed when using LEDs? So I'll need at least 450w but thinking of getting 600w LEDs. Is that a great idea??? Also when buying lighting what am I mostly looking for? I've saw different "china" website for cheaper prices. But not sure what I'm looking at. I've also seen a placed for refurbished lightning at cheaper prices. Does anyone know of any good sites

filters/fans - I have no clue?

I have a max of 1200 to spend on my set-up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I run a 3x3x6 tent and
I have a 400 watt HPS with a 6" inline fan and 16" carbon filter.
The air gets drawn in the filter and pumped out of the tent about 10'.
I also have a 4" inline fan blowing in room air.
I have two 10" fans blowing air in the tent.
For supplement I have 2 four bulb 90 watt T5 CFL fixtures hanging on either side of my plant
Total wattage, 580.
temp 83 degrees with lights on.
temp 74 degrees with lights off.
58% RH
I leave the fresh air intake running 24/7
everything else runs on 12/12
3 feedings per day with super simple DIY Ebb N Flow setup.
I use rock wool and Hydroton as a substrate.
I use FF Hydro nutes
and two additives for extra microbial activity.
Mykos and Azos.

I am sure that is below your $1200 budget.

As far as LEDs go, and anyone correct me if I am wrong but they do not supply enough light for tight buds, they need to be supplemented with another light like T5s or regular CFLs.

((My 400 watt HPS is considered weak by most growers, that's why I added the T5 Supplemental lighting.))

Materials list:

Tent 3'x3'x6' secret Jardin,( you should look at other brands also,I Think SJ is a little Overpriced)
hood,
bulb,
ballast, mine is dual so I can run metal halide too,
6" inline fan
6" x 16" carbon filter
6" hard duct x 3' cut to size,
4" soft duct for fresh air intake,
4" inline fan for fresh air intake,
10" fan x 2 inside to move air,
light hangars,
concrete pan,
home made PVC stand for tray,
ebb n flow fittings,
3/4" I.d. Tubing
1/2" I.d. Tubing
reservoir,
water pump,
air pump,
air stone
misc items, zip ties, duct tape, tephlon tape for e n b threads,
wireless temp and RH setup so you can watch your environment,
rock wool,
hydroton,
SCROG screen/fencing

I think that's the list of everything other than the plant in my tent

A great piece of info I found was an 80% load of a standard 15 amp breaker is 1440 watts.
most peoples homes run with 15 amp breakers.

I personally wouldn't recommend doing a hydro setup for your first "more advanced" grow. IMO I feel that it is better to use soil and not use a ebb and flow tray because you cannot control the individual plants needs. For instance I have 12 plants and maybe a few of them dont need water or a specific nute, I like being able to have control over them individually but each is own. I wouldnt go with LED's, I would just get a 600w or 1000w depending on how big of a space. but you could go to a hydroponic store and probably get all your used stuff there. probably get yourself and 3x3 or 4x4 tent, 600w light and ballast,6in fan, oscillating fan,25 ft of ducting. That alone is only about $500-$600. that leaves you plenty of money to get soil, nutes, seeds, etc.... Hope this helps. Good luck

My opinion is just because you got 1200 to spend doesn't mean you should go overboard and buy the most expensive shit you can find... I got a fantastic tent that's a 3x3 for 100 bucks on eBay... Great thing is... It's got metal corners.. I would get new quality equipment if your going to spend a lot, might as well make sure it's good equipment that will last....

I had a 600w hps in that 3x3 tent too.. If you can control temps I think that's the way to go... Of course if u want to spend the dough you could buy a huge ac to make sure it is enough (I used a 10k btu) or if you live where it's cold... Buy a inline fan and suck cold air in from outside and cool your cool for free...

Look into coco hempy buckets, wall of weed, vertical growing and feeding kiss style... I'm trying it this time. The plants I currently got in soil are going to be my moms for now, I'm going to practice cloning and place the clones into the coco hemp bucket and hopefully it will take off!!
