360w bulb and 400w ballast

Would it be safe to stick a 360w metal halide bulb in a 400w metal halide ballast?


EDIT: On further research I figured it is not good for the bulb

Your research is right ;) It would shorten the life of the bulb at the very least. Worst case the bulb can explode.
