3 Days Of Darkness Question..

Sup guys and gals.. so if a strain calls for 8 weeks, and im planning to do this lil 3 days of darkness shite, do I wanna wait until shes fully ready in my eyes before the 3 days, for example 8 full weeks, then 3 days, or would I want to start the 3 days darkness at say day 53?

I did it with a purple kush plant awhile ago but didnt see much results, I know this is supposed to be strain dependent, and some people say not even worth it, Ive also read tho that its recommended to put white strains in a dark period and the plant I have is a white widow/cheese cross so Im thinking the darkness may be beneficial this time, I just would like some input from people who use this technique.

I do dark period before I flip not at the end ...

I start my 3 days at the first sign of amber trics.
Plants are ready based on the trics, not a calendar or preset number of days.

You know I've tried the 3 day darkness thing i could never see a difference between the ones i left in the light.
Heres the weird thing though, dimming the lights down or raising them up during the last week of flower did seem to make them more frosty, especially the shaded area's.

I do remember hearing though that some white widdow pheno's frost up when left in the dark. If you have two clones maybe you could try them for us lmao.

I disagree, my plants are ready when I say there ready...lol

I give mine at least 24 hrs dark at the end to burn up all stored starch, to make it smoother smoking. It doesn't make more resin come out, but with the weight of the starch removed it would be that much more THC by weight, right? Even if it's only 5% more potent, it's still an improvement plus less harsh, so win/win, unless you're selling it and want absolute maximum weight, regardless of the quality.

It's usually about 36 hrs before I get it all cut and cleaned, one plant at a time. I like cleaning when fresh, so everything is nice and crispy rather than limp and leathery. Just can't work with wilted leaves conveniently, and if you let it dry before cleaning you'll be knocking off trichs with every movement.

To answer your question I would say fully ready then 3 days in my humble opinion

Yeah, because flowering "days" are really nights. It's the number of long night cycles that counts. The 3 days of dark would therefore be seen by the plant as one night, just an extra long one.

Can anyone provide any actual evidence to support the idea that an extended period of darkness at the end of flowering does anything beneficial (or anything at all) for a cannabis plant? Far as I know it's all the same level of hooey as the idea of flushing and the concept of "total defoliation" (not just pulling a fan leaf here or there, but actually plucking from the flower clusters and stripping the plants bare).

You know I couldn't. I read an interesting post on here recently that alluded to the extended darkness developing terpenes but for me I tried it to see if it made a difference and I'm not sure I could tell but the ones I put in the dark I moved into a closet so it freed up room on my tray. It definitely doesn't hurt so I thought it was good if for no other reason to switch out faster

The only extended darkness my babies get is after I chop em down and hang them in my closet to dry. They stay in the dark until it's time to put then into jars to cure, and remain in darkness until I smoke (aside from a few minutes here and there to check for mold, burp jars, trim leafs etc etc etc)
I tried the darkness while still in the pot. Didn't notice a difference in flavor or frost either. My taste testers can't even tell a difference.
