I would recomend 4ft tall if you can. Also a 250w hps will do fine in that size space with say 2-4 plants.

i have 8 cfl . 2 on each plant in the same size area. its kinda tight in there but its ok. the bulbs are 42w 2700k each. home depot 7 bucks
