2x 400w or 1000w?

I am planning my next grow and I am going to be upgrading my lights. I already have a 400w hps and was thinking it would it be better to use a 400w mh and hps for my flowering room. I would think mh would be better because u get best of both worlds. Or would it just be better to just get a 1000w hps. The area I am working with is 4ftx5ftx8ft. Im trying to keep the electric bill down as much as I can so I think 2 400w would be better but would it use more because you have to start up 2 different systems? I want to go with digital systems the one 400w hps I have now isnt digital so I would just buy 1 mh and 1 hps but is digital really worth it in cost of electric? Thanks for any advice

I think either way you go you'll do good as far as harvest. If it was my grow room I would go for the 1000 watt light with an HPS bulb with blue light spectrum. As far as electricity is concerned we can figure that using a calculator I located on the internet. Very easy to use. Look on your utility bill to get the cost per KWH. Put in the number of hour used and it spits out your information hope it helps.

I bought the 400watt digital greenhouse system from HTG supply. Used the MH for veg 20/4 schedule. The power bill only went up $28 for 1 month. It pulls 3.7 amps.The 1000watt digital claims it only pulls 1.9 amps.So with the 1000 pulling only 1.9 & on 12/12.I would assume it would be cheaper to operate? Also,I have been looking @ the Super Nova UFO LED system on www.hidhut.com looks to be the ultimate in operation cost & light production? Would a 1000w hps cover a 4x5 area pretty good with about 25 plants pretty good? I plan on starting to flower when there about 2ft tall and I am going to put some T5's on the walls to get some light on the bottom of the plants.

Add a light mover to the 1000w (if possible) But I would think you are right on track.The T5's would bring it alive.The 1000 & T5's would rock your garden! (IMO) 25 plants might be pushing it? I'm doing 18 with 1000w HPS on a light mover (Flowering) (veg) under 400 MH.(See my album) I'm not a pro.But having good luck so far.

that must be a typo,1000 digi pulls 9.1 amps all day. i use two 400 and a light rail and this is why: a 1000 is hotter.you can use one 400 if you need to.two 400's are more versitile.you can get a mh conversion bulb for one and veg with it, then swap bulbs and bloom with both.chicks dig 400's more,its true.
