250watt HPS cooling

Ok, well I tried asking a question about this, but instead everyone wanted to go crazy about the whole TIN FOIL myth, which wasn't my question.......


My question WAS, does a 250 watt HPS light, ALWAYS need to be cooled via an exhaust setup with tubes leading to the attic or such.

The light will be hanging 12" above my plants, NOT in a closet or small space, but inside a single person sized bedroom, bout the size of a regular dorm room.

Can I solve heating issues simply by placing a few fans on or around the light?

one to too find out run the experiment thats about all you can do since there are so many variables ambient air temps will have alot to do with it i built this setup out of louan that i painted with a round bath exhaust fan that i pirated out of an old mobile home and fixed up it s quiet and i can rujn this 6 inches off my plants

no they dont... use normal fans if u cant afford the really good ones
