250w Hps Grow Plans and issues

Hi all

Just got my 250w hps and wondering

Do i need to cut some holes in the cubord door and cover with tights for an intake of fresh air?

Also got a small desktop fan to put in there aswell to help the plants and light stay cool

Smell is not really an issue so im not bothering with a cf either


This is the fan i shall be getting if any

If you get a nice exhaust fan like that, you can just cut a nice size hole in your grow box in the bottom on the opposite side of the exhaust and that will work as a passive intake.. "I'm assuming you have a box.." The passive intake basically works off negative pressure but the temp in your grow room really depends on how the ambient temp is, "outside the box." I think thats what you where asking anyway.. A little fan cirulating air and blowing on the plants to keep them cool would be good too.

Yes i have a 3x3ft by 4ft tall built in cubord , so i would have to cut the holes next to were the rv is because everythink has to be mountd on the door as its built into a wall.

The best thing that you can do is if the grow area is only small get your hands on a bathroom or kitchen fan,These are not that expensive to buy but well worth the money always make sure that the outatake is a tad more than the intake.You can make a hole in the side of the grow room so that the intake will slot into perfect and seal with a little glue no more nails around the edge.I have found this to be a great way of getting a cheap intake and a fan a little bigger with a filter on has yr outa take.But i only use this kind of set up in my mother/cloneing room,when flowering more thought will have to go into the intake and out take for smell.You will be supprised how much heat a 250 hps will kick out if this becomes a prob i would consider a cool tube.Also do not over do it with the plant numbers do about 4 in a 4 ft /4ft space but flower about 1 1/2 ft tall sometimes less is more.....................tyke......................................

I will see how the normal passive intakes go , then if theres too much stale air around i will get a small bathroom fan like you said , or a quiet pc fan to to get some fresh air.

I am now at the stage were i need to get some seeds to fill my cubord.

I either want 6 indica or 10 autoflowering

sweet seeds - big devil
barneys farm - flower power
pick and mix seeds - lowryder#2 x ak47
sativa seds - jock horror autoflowering

white russian - serious seeds
kushberry - dna genetics
el alquimista - samsara seeds

These are some strains i have my eye on , will end up going with an autoflowering strain though

After alot of research and going over some 250w hps clubs from different grow sites , i now have a clearer idea of what i am doing..

It seems to me that most people use lst or scrog,sog methods when using the 250w as you get more yeild from keeping the canopy at an even level for maximuim light penetration.

I do not have any mother plants or any supplier for cuts so i alot of this has to be done simple with going from seed.

I shall be going with an autoflowering strain as i could train the canopy at an even height and also the bottom branches will be stretched so they even out with the canopy (hopefully).

If not they usually grow pretty compact or i shall get rid of them to add weight to the top.
