So, i'm wrapping up week 6 and my plants are basically giving me a huge boner all the time. I mean they are sexy! Lights on from 7pm-7am. 5k. 16x6 space. Multiple strains

This is how today went:

Hmmmm....its 3:55 pm and the temp in my room is 77 degrees. Whats going on in there?? My plants better not be partying without me. Lets go investigate.
Black out the house-check. Grab my fancy green light-check. Dress like a ninja-check. Time for a grow room invasion......

WTF!!!!!! ORANGE LIGHT!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS OVER!!!! WHY MEEEEEEEEE

Ok. Enough feeling sorry for myself. To make a long disturbing story short I was moving timers around and did not notice the programed times on one of my titan control timers had cleared its settings without losing the set time. I move these things around with no problem and they always usually keep the settings with the battery backup. Not today though. Instead of 12 hrs one 1k bulb stayed on for 21 hrs!!

I've got some advice from a few sources. Some are saying proceed like nothing ever happened and retain your original cycle. Another says start your new 12 hr cycle from the point you noticed the light on and turned it off, making my new daylight period from 4am-4pm(yeah pretty ridiculous). My grow partner, who is some self proclaimed organic chemist master gardener tells me i should implement some extra darkness. Like 27 hrs worth. Until 7pm tomorrow when the light would normally turn on.

What do you guys think?? I know that light interruption is a somewhat common issue. What have some of you done in situations like this? At the very least just stroke my ego and tell me it's gonna be fine.

Now i'm off to go grab some tissues for my issues....

also 27 hours dark sounds like a good idea as well. I have never done it but have messed up my lights. Everything woked out in the end though

Pop 12 12 like you normally would. Keep an eye on em. Wouldnt expect that little change up to hurt.

haha i do 7 to 7 too and cant wait for 7 to come so i can look at them but my last grow i did somthing similar and they got like 20 hours light and i did what your partner said, skipped a light period cause it seemed wrong to have the lights off for 4 hours and then back on. them seemed fine with it. they are a weed, a very special weed.

One time won't matter too much. You can go back to your usual schedule or continue from the time you discovered it. You'll be fine.

Leaving the lights on all day during what normally would be a dark cycle shouldn't be a problem. Where the problems tend to come is when you interrupt the dark cycle with light.

One of the tricks I've read about here on RIU is to do exactly what happened to you, leave the lights on for 24 hours, sometime around week 5. Supposedly it can sometime give a burst of new growth while still allowing time for the new growth to finish. I've tried it once and not sure if it made a diff or not. Whoever made the post said that it has never caused them hermies.

I definately wouldnt change your whole schedule around to 4-4.
either resume normal schedule or wait 24 hours are good options

Thats smart, you have a thermometer outside the room with a probe inside to check night temps? never though of that

yeah. a cheap indoor/outdoor temp monitor. The sensor stays in the room(up in an attic) and the receiver is always somewhere close so i can see it. They run 10-20$ at home depot, lowes, wallys, etc....
Great little tool for piece of mind AND big fuck ups ;-)

Iv actually heard of 24 12 light schedule on here I do believe. Never looked into it tho.
Yeah. I too recently heard of advanced lighting techniques where people run18/12 for increased yield. Like 200% increases!!! Seems a little too outside the box for my narrow little mind

i would think that would send them back to veg stage, maybe a auto flower plant. somday when i have multible lights and rooms i will try that.

LOL 200%!!! 3 times as much yield? I wish!

It's interesting idea though, definately worth testing out. Maybe I'll do a just for fun grow in two cardboard boxes with a couple CFL's and run one on 12/12 and the other one 18/12.

monday 18d/6n
tuesday 6n/18d
wednesday 12n/12d
thurday 6d/12n/6d
friday 12d/12n
saturday 18d/6n
sunday 6n/18d
monday 12d/12n ahhhh so you would have to reprogram your timer every week as well
