1st Time mini-Grow! Following the "Buds for less" book, using AK48 Nirvana seeds

Hello all,

This isn't the most advanced grow by any means, but if you're interested in a micro-grow by two college kids, read on

My friend and I are doing a very small grow in a bathroom under-sink cabinet (not sure of exact measurements, but we figured that since PC box grows are viable, the cabinet should suffice seeing as it is actually much bigger than the typical PC box).

We are using 2 Nirvana AK-48 feminized seeds that just popped taproots today (germinated via this method). We just placed them under two 42w (150w equivalent) CFLs, but as soon as the plants grow to a reasonable height we're gonna transfer them to two 12 inch pots and use a total of 6x42w CFLs.

The soil we are using is organic Sunshine planting mix. When we transfer to the larger pots, we are planning on mixing MG perlite in to help drainage.

Also, we heard from various sources that the nutrient needs are somewhat similar to tomatoes, so we are gonna try using "Tomato-Tone" organic tomato food.

Needless to say, we're both really fucking excited for this to work out. If anyone has past experiences with the "Buds for less" book and has advice, feel free to contribute to the thread (or if you have applicable general advice). Thanks in advance for reading!

UPDATE: We've run into a few problems the last couple of days. One of the originals didn't sprout at all, so I germ'd another/put it in soil.

The other original...well, I feel embarrassed but we made a real noob mistake. Basically what happened was, I put the seed in the soil and within a day saw growth (a little white/green shoot) poke up out of the soil. I was content with this and didn't really pay much attention to the plants over the weekend.
Come today, I go to check on them again and to my horror I realize that little growth was the root, and the rest of the seed with casings was under the soil. Somehow the taproot had gotten flipped (I thought I put it in the soil the right way!) or something, in any case that can't be good for the plant. I quickly (but gently as I could) moved it and put the tap root back into the soil, and promptly put a bit of water in. I also noticed that the casings were very lose at this point. Does anyone know if there's still a chance it will live?
The one that I germ'd late (not the original two) is doing fine, I think I under-watered it a little but it's only been in the soil since Sunday..otherwise it looks pretty standard in terms of comparison to the book/other grow guides' seedlings at its age.
Our goal was to do two plants so I germ'd another today cuz I figured the flipped-root one would die..

maybe go ahead and germ 1 or 2 more, you never know if you'll get males. I've got a 34 gallon rubber maid, flipped vertically (2 w by 2 l by 3.3 h) and I want to flower maybe 5-6 females, so I've got 9 in pots, and ive got 3 in bags/paper-towels on top of my laptop battery. I find that im typically the kind of person where things seem to go abnormally wrong, so i compensate :P

UPDATE 10/5:

So, the "flipped root" ended up dying but the two other resulting plants are completely fine! We had some worries while they were in the cup because a couple of the bottom leaves on one plant had yellow tinges but we figured out that it was because the roots had already expanded to the cup's boundaries. We then transplanted immediately to the larger pots, where both plants seemed to thrive. The one with yellow leaves is now fine and is the larger one in the following pictures.

So, I have a question...when is the best time to start flowering for AK-48? Has anyone had previous experience with this? Our goal is to have a harvest before the first week of December, if possible.
