1St time growing..Home made eco sport setup

Hi im a new hobbie grower
Maby some advice please.
My setup was build out of stuff i could salvage
With power consumption also in mind
Current consumption is 522w

My grow space is 6"x2.5"x5"
400w hps
A dc 24volt. Variable speed extractor fan
That uses a water evaporative ac for air intake with out the ac fan and uses the force of the vacuum created by the extractor.
Also a 25% fresh air vent

Hoe many plants would i be able to host in my box
I tought i should try a SOG technique

A space that is 6"x2.5"x5" isn't big enough for one plant let alone a 400W light. I'm assuming you mean 6'x2.5'x5' and a 400 will do a good job with half that space but isn't enough to cover it all. I have 4 - 400s and have been using them for 16 years.

I'm doing a bit of a SoG grow myself. I sprouted 76 seeds of two strains and ended up with about 24 plants spread out in 8 2.5gal pots so about 4 plants per pot. once all the males and runts were culled. They would have fit under a 400 on their own but I have 6 other plants in 4gal pots with three on each side of the SoG plants with a 1000W running up and down the middle on a light rail.

I don't know how you are going to start your grow. Clones from mother plants or seeds. If you have a lot of seeds then you could do like I did and sprout way more than you need then later on cull the runts and males so you end up with 2 or 3 plants per pot or if clones and a limited supply 1 to 3 plants per pot. You'll want to start them flowering when they are about a foot tall and for a SoG it's best not to top the plants so they don't bush out to much. You can top the side branches to keep them from spreading out as well. Teh you get one big cola on top and some bud clusters below.

If you want to fill the whole space you are going to need another 400 or lots of CFLs or some LED light to make it work.
