1st time grower (need help please)

This is gonna be my first grow.... I got a couple of lights that were given to me a dont know where to start...
1000W with digital ballast
600w with digital ballast

i looking to use an Ebb & flow table( is this OK for a first timer?)
I'm also looking to start a SOG grow .... How many plants can i grow comfortably under those lights...
I'm looking to get some florescents for mother and clones

go with the 600. the heat the 1000 makes isnt worth it. If anything do 2 600
