1st Mainline with Hashberry

After reading through Nugbuckets mainlining thread I have been chomping at the bit to give it a go. I am growing out Mandala Hashberry and picked a good candidate for the experiment.

Breeder: Mandala Seeds
Strain: Hashberry
Age: 5 weeks from seed
Number of Nodes: 7
Mainlined node: Above the 4th
Pot size: 3gal
Lighting: 55w PL-L
Medium: Soilless mix
Nutes: Primarily Earth Juice with organic supplements

I took some cuttings from the lower nodes and left the fan leaves for now until she gets rolling on the new growth.

Before the initial mainline training:

Welcome tw, glad to have you aboard. I am vegging under PL-L lighting (floros) so will be slow going for a while.

Well I'm about to throw in the towel on this first mainlining attempt. I think I either started too late or picked the wrong plant to mainline or more likely both! This Hashberry pheno is very much like the one I have in flower now and is super compact not stretching super-short inter nodal stacking. Its been eleven days since first training and the four new tops have only grown an inch or so in vertical height but bulking up on the horizontal plane. I've raised my PL-L lights 6" trying to encourage some stretch but she seems to have her mind made up.

I'll give it a few more days and if little measurable change I'll just throw her into the flower room. I'm not optimistic.

Hey man, only just saw this in your sig! I never realised this was what mainlining is lol. I used to grow this way before i used screens! I think yours may be strain related as to why its bushing rather than going out. Still looks awesome though mate, might have to try this again next grow but read up on how its done properly lol

I agree definitely the plant EC and I think I will try it again on the other pheno of Hashberry. I have cuttings that have just rooted so opportunity knocks!

Below is a pic of the the taller pheno just two weeks into flower next to the shorter, more compact one that is five weeks in flower. Thanks for checking it out!

Moved her into flower - that bush won't be tamed!

Check out my sig for my other mainline attempt (going better so far).

Good to see some more people getting into the Mainlining, bes ttraining technique out there. Doing a good job there Yankee, I`m about to flower my Mainlined girls into flower in a week or so as well. Your HB didn`t stretch at all eh? Did you top miltiple times to encourage laterals? I had some success this way with the Cataract Kush, really bushy, but trained up nice. Keep it up mate,

Thanks for stopping by KC, unfortunately this is the end of the road for this baby. Check out the other Mainline attempt with WWxBB in my sig. I did not top multiple times on this girl. She was pretty mature in veg with 0 tops when I decided to give it a try. Initial response from WWxBB is much better - not sure if it is the strain, age, both or some other contributing factors but reading through Nugbucket's thread I saw varying results though vast majority of attempts on indica-doms were positive.

Love the results others are getting so I am looking forward to getting this technique down!

Ok, so it turns out this thread was only mostly dead. Decided there may be some value in documenting some milestones on the four headed mainline just for historical purposes.

I put the Hashberry into flower on 4/28 and tied back the four heads to open up light and air flow to the under growth. I decided since the mainline was stopping at four heads I would allow the secondary growth to fill in and produce additional bud.

I was feeding my girls this morning and figured it was time for an update. This little lady is in her 6th week of flower and has weathered the recent heat wave with no ill effects. SHe is really starting to pack on weight to the four main colas as well as on the secondary buds. She has maxed out her footprint at 24" x 24" with her four main branches trained outwards to open up the secondary growth.

Just a quick picture update.

The title for the last post should have read: 94 days from seed, 37 days in flower, 49 days since initial topping. Apologies for the stoner math!

Been close to two weeks since I last updated - apologies for the delay. This little lady is going into her last week of flower and has been getting just water at her feedings for the past two weeks. She is really starting to draw nutrients from her fan leaves and tonight's watering will likely be her last. Like all the girls from this pack of seeds, her colas are frosty, extremely dense and oozing resin.
