1st Grow. Top 69 Feminised CFL Stealth. Open to advice!

Ok so this is where it all starts I guess. I’ve just received my seeds from Attitude 1xTop 69 and 1 was a freebie Dinafem Power kush. Because im a total beginner im only going to be growing the Top 69 as I hear its small, easy to grow and low odour and also because it was cheap.
Im not concerned to much on the yield, im just looking to learn and also enjoy something that ive created myself.:hump:

Ok so this is what I have, what im getting and my plan.


  • Lights: Ive got 6 x 30watt 2700k cfls but at the moment only 4 are hooked up.
  • Media: Co operative multi purpose compost, its quite light with good drainage.
  • Seed: Top 69 feminised autoflower
  • Reflective material: Flat white polythene sheets (2mm thick)
  • Pots: Ive got 2 x 1 ltr pots, I know they’re small and im wandering if I could get away with this for the entire grow without it compromising the grow?
  • Nutrients: Tomorite with added seaweed extract. Will this do for flowering?
  • Water: just tap water that’s been left out in the open for a couple of days.
  • Fans: 1 xbox 360 2piece fan(intake) 3 x cpu fans 12v (1 keeping lights cool, 2 blowing air on the plant) A hole at the top as a passive extractor which I will add a cpu fan at some point.
  • Im also waiting on a 3in1 Ph/Moisture/Light tester which should be here within the next week or so :-P

I plan on using a 18/6 lighting schedule for the entire grow.

So I have placed the Top 69 seed in damp paper towels between 2 plastic lids and residing behind my xbox and tv as its always on during the day it should keep it nice and warm. And so the journey begins. Please if you have any advice dont hesitate to put it forward, i need all the help i can get.:leaf:

Im on my first grow with top 69 now too, I'd advise to better put an outtake fan and make a pasive intake, passive extractor is stupid, because the intake fan forces air into grow box, air goes out small holes and stuff, not only the outtake.
i'm using 18/6 now and I have read it's good.

Check out my grow, It's day 8 and i have some problems too :D:D
I see you want i stealth, you have an xbox, maybe you're young? If true, then make it stealth as ****, no light leaks, no sounds, no smell. Good luck, I subbed :)

Also, the 3in1 meter will probably have shitty-not correct readings. As they say "If it's good for everything, it's good for nothing" :D

hey dc4 im 21 living on my own. i have an xbox because my younger brother occasionally comes round and he loooves playing on it. The reason im going stealth is because when people come round i dont want it just sticking out in plain sight tbh :L
And thanks for the advice on the intake vs out take ill set that up now :)

29/04/2012
So checked on it at 11pm tonight and can just see a small white tap root appearing. Ive got to go out tomorrow so should be about 3pm-ish, hopefully the tap root will develop and will be ready to pot.

Looked at the seed today and it has a nice white tap root. Ive put the seed in the multi purpose compost root down about a half inch down. Turned 2x30watt cfls on and the fan, current temp is 78*f

Ive just found another cpu fan in one of my old computers so connected it up to a 12v charger and placed that in for an extractor and thaught id turn on another 30w cfl not too much light is it?

Hmm you know, i'm running 2x20w cfl's and it's very good, The seedling doesn't need too much light, but it won't hurt too.
I see you have a lot of fans, make sure to put them so the air goes straight where it needs to, put duct tape/hot glue/acrylic sealant, to make it airtight around edges.
Also, cfl's give more light from the sides, not the top, so try to put it horizontally if you can.
Cpu fan's are louder than case fans, so make sure they aren't too noisy, like, "Oh hey why does that box sound like a washing machine?" :D:D:
Good luch further and you'll probably see the cotyledons by tommorow ;)

haha thanks mate, im soo excited yano :D and yeh the fans are barely noticeable in a silent room so that isnt a problem. I hope so:lol:

looks a bit overfilled, that room , but if it's working for you, ok.
I hope you haven't added the nutes, riiight? because you only need them after a few sets of leaves.
Is there some kind of a numbers on the tomorite thingy? like N-P-K (stands for nitrogen, phosporus, potassium)
Maybe would be smart to get some other nutes, because this looks weird and isn't it for tomatoes?:D
Search on the stickys, there's alot about what you need for veg/flow, but I think with this fast strain you could veg without nutes.

Yeh i know i dont need the nutes yet, thought id just add the pic anyways tho. And yh the NPK is 4:8:8.5. ive done alot of research and alot of people say that tomorite is good for flowering, not great but good :) im not buying any veg nutes as its an autoflower vegetation period is short. btw your grow appears to be coming on nicely buddy :D

Thanks, I'm hoping to yield nicely too :D Good that I have found another small time cfl grower, with the same strain ,and on his first grow too. :)

Hmm....24 h and it had already almost opened the leaves, but it didn't because the casing was stuck, I helped her. Don't worry, if it's 2 days and nothing, carefully dig it up and check, maybe it is growing in wrong direction, but ussually it works it's way out.
I'm going to bed now, I'm pretty sure she'll come up soon :)

Ok soo ive just looked at my baby and 2 little leaves are above ground :D Ill post a pic later on tonight as my cameras broke :/ so im lending my buddies when he gets back from work

Bump. I'm only running 1x30w cfl now as she appeared to be growing abit weird and looked to be browning slightly and i think this is due to heat. Ive also placed a case fan blowing air directly onto the seedling to keep it cool and also strengthen the stem.
Ive watered her today as the lights will be turning off in about half hour or soo...

looks like a nice start man, my lil guys be here in about a week. I'll be starting a thread when I get them in the pots so it be nice to compare first grows in the end, we can call it THE ROOKIE CHALLENGE lol but nice start man. goodluck. I'll check back later
