1st grow help

im in the process of building a grow cabnet in my basement and its going to be 5'x3' for my veg and the same for my flowering sides. i just bought 2 2x4 hydroponic trays ebb and flow for the flowering and just a simple drip for my veg. i ordered my seeds from nirvana and decided on 5 seeds of northern lights and 5 of wonder woman. my question is how many plants will i be able to have in my flowering side with a 400 hps lamp?

You are missing a dimension. 5x3x???.

Figure a normal sized flowering plant will be 3'(+planter) x 1.5'x1.5' if not bigger. Im gonna guess 3, possibly 4. But it also depends on what you are going to do to the plants, FIM, LST, SOG, ScrOG...

It will handle 4, up to 6, depending on how long you veg. Shorter the veg the smaller the plant. But you figure the plant will grow, in flower 3 time the size of plant at the end of veg. So 1 foot, (2 weeks in veg) will give you a 4 foot plant in general. Depending on if you top the plant, will be alittle smaller if toped, non toped should be close to 4 foot. i use 400 watt hps and have, at any given time up to 6. Just know that the longer the veg the taller the plant. Now you can also train the plant to keep hight down by pulling the top over with string or wire. If you look at the grow i have now you will see what it does to the plant. I have 2 areas 1 is 3x5x4.5 tall in that area i have two 400..s and in the other is a 3x3x6 and have 1, 400.. in there. hope this helps.
