1st Grow GHS Super Lemon Haze Stretching?

Hey everybody.. I've been interested in growing for a while, and just recently I was able to set up a nice little bathroom grow room. I've got:
400W HPS/MH Electronic Ballast
400W Bulbs(HPS/MH)
Wing Reflector
4" duct exhaust to outside
and 2 timed oscillating fans

I've had the seed in a mostly peat moss, perlite, and limestone mixture for about 4 days now... I had the ballast at 250W for the seedling stage, and the reflector was around 3 ft from the pot, because I was worried about the HPS light on the fragile seedling. Anyways.. today I lowered the light to about 22" off the plant, because the first set of true leaves are just emerging, and the main stem it pushing 7 inches in height.. Compared to other SLH grows I've seen, mines looking pretty lanky.. I'll throw some pics up under my post... Any input anyones got would be appreciated, and if you've got questions that may help you help me, I'd be glad to answer asap. Anyways, heres some pics of the first 3 days, and a little of the setup.

make sure you have enough height. my SLH is at 5 feet and i topped them. but they are slow to start flowering but then move quite quickly at packing on the weight.

holy jesus that is one lanky fuck
when it gets 2 nodes, see if they are stretched and if it is, id say its just abit of mutant genetics and u should scrap it
but if not, just bury it down the 7 inches haha

holy shit dude.... looks like mah cock... yeh bury the stem a good bit, not only will it be stronger, but will eventually turn to more rootage n your babe will thank you for it. move the light closer, jus make sure it wont be too hot. n if so throw a fan on em, tat will also help sturdy the stem

Yeah, at 3' away, the 400 watt HPS is really weak, which is why they were stretching. Next time, keep it at 20-22" from the get-go, as long as you have a fan in there blowing across the pots. I put mine in full light, right away, and never had a problem. I use fluoros though, so I don't really have to worry about heat.

Move your light closer. You can get pretty close with a 400w without burning but make sure you have a fan or something (which you should have anyway). Plants are always trying to get to the light and if it is high up they are going to grow taller and taller.

Alright guys.. So The light has been lowered and its been a couple of days.. I had a crisis yesterday, in which the plant fell completely over :S so I propped it up, and added soil... and within 2 hours it had completely corrected itself and is now growing out rather than up :) Also my 'church' seed has sprouted.. (after like almost 10 days of germination I gave up and just planted it..) so well see how that goes. Everything is lookin super tight now.. Thanks for all the help, and I'll be posting the whole grow in the general forum. Thanks again.
