Disclaimer: I apologize for the length. Hopefully the pictures will be enough for skimming
But please, only advise if you REALLY know what you're talking about. I NEED the best advice out there so I can treat my disease.
First time grower. Unfortunately, I have severe ulcerative colitis -- and I've lost 22lbs in two weeks. This has made me really dumb. I'm deficient in just about every nutrient -- and my brain has seen major drops in the last few weeks from it (especially the constant dehydration). I only add that in case this is an obvious question that I should have been able to answer in the search. Not looking for pity (happily married with a wife and little boy
, just a disclaimer in case this is a stupid question (as my "stupid" meter is pretty broken
).
I need a lot of weed. My last ditch hope before starting chemo is CBD rich strains. Ideally, I'd like so much that I can cook everything with it -- even juice it if I can. I have talked to several people in my situation who have achieved remission from this.
So here's my likely setup.
Veg room: 10 feet wide. 8 feet long. 5 feet tall on two sides and triangles up to 5'6" in the center. If necessary, I can dig holes in the ground for the pots to make them ground level (or deeper) if this will increase my yield.
Two 600w mh's and one 1000w mh. 9 plants.
Now, if a set up like below would mean significantly more yield, I can do this, as well...
Heat shouldn't be a problem as I live in a fairly cool area (hot but dry), so long as there's airflow. I did a trial run with a fan system and it took the shed from 100 degrees down to 75 degrees in minutes. And it stayed there
I'm wanting to introduce a new plant a week over 18 weeks. So once it runs its course, I should have a harvest every week as the moment a new space is open from the harvested plant, I have a new clone ready to fill its spot. Should look like this...
As you can see, after the first cycle, barring any complications (which I'm sure will arise more than I anticipate), I should be harvesting a plant every week.
Some questions...
1. What is a reasonable yield for me to expect (I know this varies) if one assumes I do well with everything aside from lights (no easy task, I'm sure)?
2. If I'm nowhere near it, is it possible for me to change or add anything to try and get closer to a pound a plant? If I can get 6-8oz off a plant, I'll be very happy (I understand that these are wild expectations for a first time grow -- but I have a lot of help from my dad (was raised farming in the midwest in the 40's all organic) and my father-in-law has been growing weed for about 30 years (just found out
-- so they should be able to help me with feeding/nutrients/supplements/c02/etc. But if I can get a pound or near that with each plant, I'd have exactly what I'm wanting (so I can juice every day).
3. I understand that different strains yield different, so the strains I need might not be able to yield that well. I have many dispensary friends who will trade me, so feel free to suggest popular, potent strains with high yields (in your experience) as I think this might be the best bet for me. Of course, if the strains I need are heavy yielders, that's awesome.
4. If having a bigger area for the nine plants (but similar -- or not MUCH more expensive lighting) vegging will make a significant difference, I can potentially use a bigger area. It'll add some work and hassle, but if it means several ounces more per plant, I'll do it. If it's going to take me from 4oz to 5oz, it might not be worth it (perhaps, though). Think that might make a difference that would matter?
To give you an idea, this setup should cost me just under a grand and then under $200 a month in electric. So I'm fine to increase my initial costs if it means significantly greater yields.
5. The flower room will be very similar (unless something better is suggested) but with HPS lights and a 7ft ceiling.
Again, please know I mean no disrespect by acting like I can grow a pound a plant on my first grow. I KNOW how difficult and how unlikely it is I will get there -- but I want to do everything I can to get me at least as close to that within my means. So any other suggestions would be wonderful. I am an open book.
Thanks
