Just took my first cuttings today, need some pointers. I have a flat with a clear humidity dome. A 20w fluorescent from a fish tank, bluish light color. A 1.25" 12v fan inside. 100% humidity, about 80*F. I dipped them in honey, then put them in my potting mix.

How do they not die from all that moisture???? I would expect them to just damp off like a soaked sprout. How do they not just get covered in mold in there?

I took the 2 lower most branches, 5 nodes each. Plant was 4 weeks old. I also topped it today, and planted those two as well. So I have 2 from the bottom most part, and 2 from the top most part. The plant is 8.5 inches tall.

First pointer is be patient. I have some cuttings show roots in 5, 6 days, and some take 2 weeks.
I like to keep humidity about 80-85%, but that is what seems to work better for me. One more thing, cuttings can look rough sometimes.
Don't panic if they look a little droopy. I'm no expert just tryin to help by sayin what works for me.

Honey??? Man that's brilliant!! I would never have thought of using honey; it's one of the best antibacterial, antivirals anywhere. I don't think you really need the fan but it sounds like you're doing good.

Just figured that stagnant air is bad, but with clones, lots of air is bad too.

Couldnt afford the cloning dips. Honey would prevent embolisms, provides sugars, nutrients, is non toxic, creates a protective layer, and is indeed, antibiotic. I heard about it in reading, and it made perfect sense right away.

My brother that passed away with cancer had a vein taken from his leg and the wound never would heal up. The doc prescribed some $100 / tube or worthless shit ointment. So after about a month and it still was not healed up he put some honey and vitamin E on it and it was completely well in a week.

Here's a YouTube video showing a test of Clonex vs Rooting Compound vs Replicator vs honey. Honey worked in the end, just took a little longer.

interesting video plus rep to ya.
I wonder if using some powdered rooting hormone w/the honey would help w/ better root development. I always put a couple nodes in the cube too tho. I see this guy didn't put any. Plus I scrape one side down to the cambium layer.

I'ma have to do some experiments now.:joint:

I think dipping it in the rooting hormone then in the honey to seal it and keep the microbes out would be a good combo. Let us know how your experiment works out.
