1st Cfl grow with pics

Growing out 2 blue rhinos and 2 bagseeds that I saved up from decent bud. Both strains are being grown out from seed.

They are in a homemade rubbermaid box..each container is 50gals.

The lighting rite now is 8 23w 6500k cfls. Soil is promix hp w/mycorise/perlite/fast acting lime.

Only nutes so far has been some tea. Was using blood meal but switched to high N bat guano and a little molasses. Also been adding a few drops of superthrive to the water.

I fimmed both of the bagseeds. And Applied some LSt to one of them. I think it came out great! multiple tops and its just a Bush

I was looking today and noticed that the stems are starting to alternate, so im looking around to see if I can determine the sex of any plant yet andddd




Now this is my 1st grow, but ive done my research and those look like pre-flowers to me.

The plant is a blue rhino! Which is exactly what I wanted to keep as a mother. Its the plant That is the closest to the camera 3 pictures up.


All I need to do now is find a place to keep my blue rhino in veg so I can start taking clones.

I also need to get some flowering nutes so I can put the other 3 plants into 12/12. I was thinking about getting either Iguana juice grow and bloom or earth juice. any input?

When do you think she will be ready to take clones from

Also now that I know the blue rhino is a female, should I top her to make her stay bushy? Is it too late to top her?

that one does look female. the second one i cant tell. you could top/fim/lst the gal now if you wanted.

How do you guys recommend I go about topping or fimming my soon to be mother?


What are the pros and cons of each?

fimming is a form of topping really, I'm watching pawn stars and am just checking out riu on breaks, i'll hit you back later on some more detailed info.

I have 2 bagseed plants and 2 blue rhino plants. The bagseed plants were both fimmed and one was lst'ed.


And today I fimmed my soon to be mom.

So in total I have:1 bagseed fimmed and lst'ed, 1 bagseed just fimmed, one blue rhino growing with no sort of pruning, and my female blue rhino( the only one to show sex so far)

how far apart will 2 plants of the same strain show sex? does it really just depend on the plant?

Some show in 2 days and some show in 2 weeks. It all depends on the plant.

sort of plant dependent and wether or not they were pushing out preflowers showing they were sexually mature already.

i agree w/what everyone there said. it looks male but preflowers are not always perfect so you should wait a bit to tell for sure.

Quick update:

The blue rhino that I thought was male was indeed a male.
The bagseed that had been lst'ed and fimmed is also a male...so they went in the garbage today.

Im still waiting for the other bagseed to show its sex. I really hope its a chick.

Do you guys think if I switch my lighting from 24/0 to 18/6 the plant might show its sex sooner?

I def think they would sex sooner. You could just trow them on 12/12 for a couple weeks or less to find out sex.Then throw them back on veg. Sorry to hear about the men. Hoping the rest are chicks for ya. Nice grow!

i think it will show sex soon no matter what cycle you use, its the fact that its sexually mature that causes preflowers to form, not the light cycle. I really advise against forcing it to flower and re-verting to veg, it takes way too long to and is too stressful be worthwhile imo.

yup im not gonna re veg it after I find its sex. The lights were on for 24/0 the past 1.5 months and now im going to change it to 18/6..

Im just waiting for a solid plan on how im going to operate my grow.

I might go buy one of these, or something similar and have flowering on top and the mom on the bottom

I also just impulse bought a 400w hps from HTG so well see where this goes.

Wow its been almost a month since my last update.

My cool tube should be comming today and my s&p td-150 should be here tomorrow. Saturday I construct the cabinet.


The bag seed plant is a female btw. So I have a blue rhino female and the bagseed female

the blue rhino in a little discorlored..what does it look like? PH is 6.4 temps are 75-80..humidity is 30-40%. Been giving 10-3-1 bat guano tea every other watering.

I stopped giving the bigger bagseed plant nutes. Im going to flush her this week. I plan on putting her into 12/12 next week. What nutes should I start giving? Can someone give me ideas? I kinda want to go organic because thats whats available by me...

the plants you showed are nice, not all the pics work. why did you flush it? your plant still needs nitrogen, especially for the huge growth spurt you get the first 3-4 weeks of flower. I dont even switch to flower nutes till 2-3 weeks into flower, lol, for flowering get something high in phosphorus and potassium and lower levels of nitrogen. i dont know what it is you have available so thats all i can say on that really. buy some unsulphured blackstrap mollasses too.

I thought I read somewhere that you should flush before putting it into flower. Ill look for where I read it, but in the mean time, I do have the molasses.

Can anyone suggest a good organic mix of stuff as a top dressing that would get results?

Should I just go get some Iguana juice or earth juice?

Would stuff like bone meal, fish emulsion, ect.. get better results?

My cool tube came today...I had to re-wire it..its sweet. My fan is comming tomorrow.
