175 PPM too high to start?

My new location uses well water instead of city tap. The ppm of the well water is 175.

I want to start a single dwc bucket (5gallon), but is the 175 ppm too high? My nutes suggest 300ppm for seedlings.

Because my location is very rural, the nearest store for distilled water is some 30 miles away. And we do not have a good enough well system (pressure) for an RO system.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

That's some awesome well water. You can likely run normal base nutrients and probably won't need much if any calmag.

i think less is better i always use half what the bottle says to use. if you are not using 1000w of light you'll never need to use full strength feeding.
the amount of nutrients your plant needs is dependent on how much light you use

Also part of that equation is CO2 levels and temperature.

my well is about 0.28EC (140 ppm) and i just run 1,1,1 mL per gal of micro bloom grow for my little seedlngs. they seem to like it.

my tap is 170. I bump it to 350 once theres roots coming out of the net pot.

Checked my water report from when we bought the house. It didn’t show the levels for calcium and such. It must not have been that comprehensive.

Water ph is almost always in the 7-7.5 range straight from the faucet.

Not sure what my co2 levels are, but temps I current have set up for the grow room are from 68f to 82f.

I have a two chamber tent the flower side that’s active now with a soil grow and my mothers are in the veg side.

68f in the dark times as that’s close to ambient room temp. And veg side is about mid 70’s with light on. Flower side is sometimes around 82f depending on how much I leave the surrounding doors open in the basement.

My biggest light is a 600w Viparspectra LED.

It is very hard to keep my RH higher than 25%. And because the grow tent is in a room with a lot of electronics I can’t put a humidifier in, but I hope that by adding hydro units the evaporation would help raise that a bit and I could maybe addd some natural evaporation water sources to help humidify the immediate chambers. But no big humidifiers :(

Current strains are white widow and afghan #1

Thanks for the info so far!!

A friend uses tap that measures like 250. She still sees benefit from using the full dose of cal-mag. I'd use this water without a second thought.

So for seedlings add an increment of 200 to 250 ppm actual nutrient ...
