Ok, Apparently the fact that i dug my room out of earth is attracting some attention, so here's the juicy details. We'll start in the half basement. (We wont show pictures as to keep secrets secret) There was a 2 1/2 by
4 ft section of cinder block removed from my basement wall by previous owner to provide access to crawl space for a furnace replacement, thus providing yours truly with a head start on an underground room. To dig from the tough dry earth i used a 32oz. framing hammer. I used the claw end like a makeshift pick axe to chisel away a layer at a time. Over the course of 2 days, I created a standing area 5ft wide & 6ft tall and dug out a "table" 5ft wide by 2 1/2 ft deep. I then bought 4 x 8 insulation sheats from lowes with a reflective surface, much like a dimpled hid reflector. I used aluminum duct tape to tape the structure together from the inside. I lined the bottom and exposed earth with 4mil clear plastic and taped it as well. I made a shady light hanging system with coat hangers, fit it to the top and hung 3 u bent 40w florecent lights, 2 15w florecents & 16 cfls.
I ran 2 fans from computer power supplies. 1 for intake & 1 exhaust with 4" ducting to and from the crawlspace. Notice the sagging on the top above the lights. Thats an issue to be addressed. Thats it.
