Depends on:
1. If you have an air cooled hood; u probably dont with a 150.
2. If you are bringing in cool outside air to the room
3. If your room is sealed
4. How hot the surrounding or incoming air is
5. Are you trying to create negative pressure in your room
6. Are you running duct work.

I ran a 150 open hood, years ago in a 4x4 area that was not sealed. I used a small box fan to do air exchange and cool the 150 (if it needed cooling) No problems.

There is a formula to determine the number of fans needed in your grow space, you will be figuring "cfm's" And Yes ; ventilation is very important, they say it should only take 5-10 seconds to remove air from space and bring in "outside" air

I have done a 150w hps grow. Eventually I took it out and hung it vertical in a 3x3x4, put a fan under blowing strait up, i didnt have any ventilation in that cab but one of those 6" booster fans would have helped. I use one of those booster to cool one of my 400w mh lamps with seperate ventilation for the entire area. And i have grown right up to a bare 150w, tips will burn when it touches, if you do bare bulb make sure you dont leave it alone for 5 days, not ussully a nube problem. Enjoy the learning curve.

A cool tube is designed to use a fan, so yes you'll need a fan just for that. However, as others have posted, you dont need a cool tube for a 150 watt light.
I got some good offer for hole package ( 150w hps bulb + balast + cooltube + bat reflector + hanging kit ) all for 90$.
So basicly 150w hps with cooltube i could hang few inches from plant? Could i?

What can i expect with 150w hps and few 30w CFL as suplement?

Yes you can hang the light close to the plants with a cool tube. Your grow room is small, so you wont be able to fit a lot of plants in there. Yield is hard to determine.

I use a couple 150s plus CFLs in a smaller grow area I have. With a fan blowing across the top of the plants I have those open bulb 150s 4 to six inches off of the plant.

buy a 50 cfm pc fan
connect that to ducting and ur cool tube
make sure the ducting and cooltube are sealed tight and vent it straight in and out of cab DO NOT exhaust heat from light back into your cabinet

soo do this:

===150w===X --->

X = fan
=== is duct
---> is exhaust out

then with a separate smaller fan about 10 cfm vent you cab with that
put exhaust fan up top of the cab
then make passive intake holes double the size of your fan.
so if u use a 2.5 inch fan for exhaust then you would want 5 sq in of passive intake holes . u could make 2 2.5 in holes on both sides of the bottom of the cab.

u will not see anymore then 10 degrees F from ambient and cab temp. if the rooms 60 then the cab will be 70.

Am a personal grower, only 1 plant.
Can 1x150w hps + few 30w CFL give good yield on one plant?

You can expect to grow one nice size plant. If I were to do it again and all I could use was a 150, I would start with a high yielding, shorter growing strain. Veg 2 weeks from seed in 1/2gal pot, transplant into a 5 gallon pot and flip to 12/12 after another week. Make. Small screen 2x2 and use thatto teain your plant to get max yield from that light. I would start the first week with one or two cfls then fire up that hps. With that you should be able to get a 2oz plant.

Mmmmmm, sounds great :weed: bongsmilie

Yep my first grow was with a 150w HPS and 2x 125w CFLs. Small area.. 3' high x 2' x 1.5' - scrogged Northern Lights, got about 2oz from it.
