150w hps light ???

aight i just got 2 150w medium base HPS light bulbs from lowes and im gonna use them for the budding stage along with some CFL's, but when i got home and screwed the light bulb into the socket it wouldnt turn on....the lamp i screwed it into said it had a 150w max, so im just wonderin why it aint workin???

Did you screw them into a regular household socket? If so, that's probably why. Most HPS lights need a ballast. Lowes has the 70 watt hps self ballast security lights on sale for like $30... Read up on here.

I just got mine and placed it upright in the center of my grow- with the glass housing but without the security cage (it'll slide right off). All the little ones are in a circle around it. I have overhead fluorescent lighting to supplement and my plants are loving it.

haha ding dong u need a ballast for hid lighting that was a joke right just kidding but yeah keep them as spares and go to econlighting and get u some vapor tight lamps for 20 bucks Hope that helps
