I'm looking into setting up a grow room using the Master Blaster 1500w high pressure sodium ballast by Lumatek / Galaxy but I'm unsure with such massive wattage, the best way to maximize grams per watt. I'm leaning heavily towards aeroponics.
Originally, given the lumen output of a 1500w HPS bulb I was thinking of using soil in 5 gallon pots, thinking such massive lumens would be ideal for growing large plants.
Given I'm not too thrilled about the mess and tedium of soil, I also considered large pot DWC, drip system or ebb & flow.
Right now I'm leaning heavily towards the Aquamist 1 system which was featured in SeeMoreBuds DVD 15 Pounds in 80 Days. I'm thinking of using 4 of these with the 6" net pots, 16 plants per unit. Each unit is 4ft x 2ft, so four of them would be 64 plants in a 8ft x 4ft footprint under two 1500w HPS for flowering. I know the added heat can defeat the purpose of the 1500w bulb by forcing one to increase the distance between the light and plants. I don't mind the heat issue: if air cooling is not sufficient (will be using Magnum XXXL 8") I can install an Ice Box or the new Ice Flow from Advanced Nutrients. In fact, given how hot these run I may do the Ice Box and chiller from day one so I can really get them close to the canopy.
Any advice is much appreciated!![Smile :) :)](/styles/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
