150 watt bulb with a 250 watt ballast?

what happens if i have a 150 watt hps bulb in a light that has a ballast for a 250 watt hps? is that i horrible idea? and if not will it be drawing 150 watts or 250 watts of power?

Bad idea. Ballast and bulb wattage should be the same.
