What do you mean, using 120 bulbs?

Between buying so many bulbs, sockets and wiring it all up... you'd probably be better off with HID lighting.

Sure it's possible, I don't recall ever seeing someone try though. You would probably be better off using 26 watt bulbs for only a little more money. All you would really need is some plywood, a bunch of light sockets, and a lot of wiring and time.

I bet the build cost would be on par with what a 1000 watt MH/HPS system would run. Fluorescents aren't as efficient as HID lights, so you wouldn't have the same output strength. I think if you were a big do-it-yourselfer you would choose a bunch of 4ft t8's costing a little less in the end with the same output.
