12 flower, max 3 mothers, high height limit, any advice for setup in an apartment?

I recently became a medical patient and plan to start my grow in the near future.

I will be living in an apartment and thus will have to build a grow box I can disassemble when I move out.

Anyone have any great advice on how I should go about this?

I was thinking long and skinny or just a square setup. Like 3 deep 8 wide or 5x5 or something.

I heard the maximum wattage most plants can handle is around 100 watts per sq. foot.

So if my flower room is 20 square feet could I could use up to 2k watts of light before it would start to burn the plants? I was thinking of maybe three 600s for flower and a 400 for veg.

With a 7 foot height limit does SOG beat out SCROG as far as yield goes? Because I know the maintenance and trimming involved with SOG is far less than SCROG.

I would really appreciate any help! My main focuses are maximizing yield so I don't mind paying another 30 dollars a month for an extra 1k watts if it means fatter buds.

Thank you! I have lots of questions but I'll try to refrain from asking too many at once.

Soil btw

I grow with cfls so I can't help your light situation but 100 watts per plant should be plenty of hps.I'm growing 2 really small plants under less than a 100 watts of cfl and there doing alright.but with 7 feet of height youshouldn't have to sog or scrog if you don't want to but it may help maximize yeild

i need more info on plant limits where you are at . i think 2k hps is way over kill for 12 plants. Just did a set up for a friend in his apartment working awesome. We devoted one of the bedrooms in his 2br apartment but there's enought room for an bed and outher shit if needed. pm me if you want to know what we did.

Overkill? I thought it's based off of how much square footage in the space (and if I can keep temps down) the plants will be taking up not the amount of plants themselves. There's no reason 1600 in flowering room for 12 plants couldn't work if the room was big enough and circulation enough. The other 400 is veg btw.

Or would it just make more sense to do 2-3 mothers and swap 5 plants perpetually every 6 weeks? That way I could make the flower room a little smaller and use less wattage and still have the desired 100watts per sq ft.

I told you plant limits. 15 plants.

i use a 1000k watt hps over a 4x4 area if i was to only have 15 plants id would flower 9 plants in a 3x3 pattern in a 4x4 area have 2 mothers ( diftent strains ) veg 4 plants use three. Toss the one you dont like or give to a friend and split harvest or replace a overgrown mother. Say you have a 9 week flower then thats a harvest every three weeks. Take clones 2 weeks befor you harvest the last three plants in your cycle. Imo that would work best. Get a 4x4 tent and make a box or use a closet for a veg/ mom room.

might get a qp every harvest. If you work with plant limits.
Mines 24 but i roughly have 140 plants going not includeing clones. Good thing excess plant numbers has allready gone to court and ruled in favor of the defendent in my state.

I don't want it to be that perpetual. I want to harvest twice in one normal grow period not like 4+ times like you are suggesting. Just 6/7 plants every 6 weeks.

1k watt over a 4x4 area with 6/7 plants in that area. What do you think my average yield will be per plant? Why wouldn't it be better to get twin 600s or something for a more even canopy.

Oz cured per plant. I only say that sence it kinda hard to do less un less u place 40 under a 1k watt. 600 watt are beter suited for a 3x3 my thoughts about that is most ac hood are designed for a 4x4 area with 1k watts are suited for and 1k watt penterate the foliage better.
