12/12 to Sex an UNROOTED clone?

I know i can take a clone and put it in a closet for 12 horus to 'flower' the clone and find out its parent's sex, but heres the tricky part; I don't care if the clone lives or dies (and being my first grow it'll probably die with no dome or rooting hormone) Can i just put this fresh unrooted clone into 12/12 and sex it? Or will i get a hermie or kill it? I don't care if this particular clone lives or dies, i just want it for its sex, so to speak

tripping.... anyways hermie doesnt work like that and the simple answer to your ? is yes but i would do it a simpler way put the whole plant on 12/12 then when it shows it sex (about 2 weeks usually) turn it back to veg light time. next on cloning sticking a branch in plain dirt with water (as long as the cut is good and you dipped it in water to prevent air bubble from getting inside stem) will give you root no rooting hormone necessary, but it helps for sure, i recommend hormex when you do get some
