my closet that im gonna be growin in is like 3x3 feet, there's enough room for like 4-5 plants I think. I have two options of which to buy. 1. A stealth hydro kid with 2 100w HPS and 6 four inch net pots for plants but the guy said it gets pretty cramped, for smaller plants. it basically comes with every thing I need to start growing hydroponically.
Either that or some foxfarms soil and a 1000w hps deal. I would like to buy the 1000w and the soil and grow soil instead of hydro but I'm not sure if the 1000w would be too big for my closet like is it possible that it could be too hot for my small space? I was thinking like 400w but I saw this deal and I had to consider it. any advice would be nice? and for more info im gonna be growing AK48 and some other autoflowering seeds.

a 1000w would be alot for a 3x3 area unless you can air cool the light with a vent leading outside of the grow room

I wouldn't do either.... 1000w is too much for a 3x3 closet, but 2 x 100hps isn't nearly enough. Depending on how you plan on control heat and what your exhaust is like, a 400 with some added side lighting or a 600 would be your best bets.

no matter what in a 3x3 closet you will need some sort of ventilation running a hps . To save too much of a headache go with the 400w.

Soon as you said "closet" I said "600w or 400w". IF and ONLY IF you can keep your temperature in this closet at 80(f) then sure, go for the 1kW lamp. You'd probably need a fan with ventilation pushing the rooms air through the light then out an exhaust to the attic if possible. Its not enough of a heat signature to worry about FLIR by any means, so your safe there too.

Good luck!!

kitty what you mean He prob need to vent ?!? .... HE 100% WILL !!!! DONT LISTEN TO THE people WHO HAVE NOT EVEN SPROUTED A SEED YET diamond < A 400w or 600w HPS IN A 3x3 CLOSET WILL HEAT UP VERY QUICK and temps will soar to the 90's > NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS YOU WILL NEED VENTILATION> !

I agree with BuddaRoom 100%.

If I were you, I will get an 6" air cooled hood, a 600 watt eye hortilux HPS lamp (same lamp for veg and flower both). Most Important thing that I would need is fan and duct work to get some cold air in the Hood and exhaust hot air out of the house. For one light a 6" centrifugal fan like can-fan might be overkill, you should be able to find a cheaper inline duct booster fan which can produce upwards of 200 cfm. Since you are new to indoor growing I would suggest you start with soil as it is much more forgiving than hydro. Get yourself some good PH and PPM meter as well. Also you need a revolving fan to move air inside the grow area.

Note: You can also add a small carbon filter on the air intake of your hood and ventilate you room with the same fan.
