Im growing with a 1000w air cooled light hooked up to a 265 cfm daton blower and the glass is HOT!! Im wondering if im under faned, the hood has a 4"muffin fan pushing and a 265 pulling, ive got a extra 140 cfm daton and an adapter so i will try to push more air. any help with how many cfms needed to make my hood not as hot, also my venting is tru 4" vent, its a really short run to out side, is it worth going to 6"? im only venting about 6ft.

What kind of fan are you using...?

Axial? Centrifugal?

I have 420 cfm cooling 3x 600w with no issues...

I also know of people cooling 2x 1k with 200cfm...

But it's gotta be TRUE cfm... you need a fan with guts to maintain cfm even with all of the restrictions to flow...

Post a picture of your components and we will help you out...

It can be done, but it must be done properly to work...

Here is a useful drawing showing a proper OP vent system...

Get rid of the muffin fan, it's doing more harm than good. It'll restrict the big fan to moving maybe slightly more than the little one could. One fan per duct, unless it's gotta run the length of your house.

Is my Dayton 265cfm blower fan enough for my light? Would a 400cfm make it cooler or is the 265 enough? It seems to be sucking a lot of air, but it still feels pretty hot under the light, im very willing to buy a bigger fan if it would help, my ac is on way to much, can any fan gurus help a newbie out?

Is the light cooling a closed system or does it suck air from the growroom? What size ducting is the hood designed to run with? What are the ambient temps? How much does the ac reduce those?
Did you get rid of the muffin fan?
