No you have to buy a 600 watt ballast, if you put a 600 watt bulb to that 1000 watt bulb your asking for a fire if not an explosion when you turn it on. But I really don't know what will happen when you turn it on it could be fine for a bit or it could explode the bulb idunno, but if it does work for a bit then you leave and it over heats boom fire and you loose everything not worth it. Ebay is great.

its common sense u cant use lower watts for a hid major out put, would u run a 112 volt cord to 240 volt ballast? u can use a 400 in a 430, i would imagine u mite be able 2 use a 400 on a 600 idk. best thing 2 do if i was u is just get the 1000 watt swichable ballest, how bigs ur space?

i wish i bought a 1000 watt instead of the 600 but it depends on ur space and height if ur in a lo room try using 2 600s instead of the 1000 they make dual 600 watt ballest for 240 volt cord gudluk
