1000 hps but loose buds

I am not sure what is going on here. I have a 1000w hps, in soil with fox farm nutes. 10 weeks into flower and the buds are not tight. They are still flowering, which I thought would have been finished by now, but just not tight like I would expect by now. What could be the cause for this? I know some will say give it more time, but how much time is enough time before you try and figure out another solution? The past two harvest have been taken too early. Even though they felt at the time tight enough, once they were cured they became loose again. Just don't understand what is causing them not to tighten up more. Anybody?

How far away is the light?, it could be the pheno?? i use a 400hps and FF cha-ching in late flowering, it tightens up and adds dencity like hell.

It's about 18" from the light or so but at an angle. You think it could because I'm missing cha-ching that they aren't tighter? I do add a bit of N (1/4 tsp) / gal every third watering. The humidity stays below 40% most of the time unless it was recently watered but doesn't go above 40%.

If I'm not mistaken(beginnier grower here), adding n while flowering would make it geared more towards veg than flowering. Stop adding N and use P and/or K supplements instead, and that should help some.

are u using same strain? sativas will be looser buds, than indicas, so if u have a hybrid u cud have a more sat pheno, 18" is about right for a 1000w hps.. 15 is perfect but fck me 3" aint gunna change the world. are u lettin the buds go all the way to ripeness, they will naturallly tighten up when they have last push.

wat strain is she m8?

One is an Indica (Afgan), and the others are primarily Sativa. The Indica seems to be tight throughout the flowering stage for the most part but the Sativa remain looser. The strain is from the Tennessee hills called Tennessee Thunderfuck. Won't find that one in any catalog. :) I wouldn't think I would have to add anything to make them become more dense since in nature they become dense on their own, right? I've always found answers to any problem on here and hoping someone can give me some insight to what I'm doing wrong here. :wall: They're still flowering. I just don't want to take them too early like I've done the past two times. Any hints to what could be wrong here? Or is this perfectly normal?

Could be your plants have shitty genetics. I have been growing out as many seeds as possible just trying to observe plant characteristics and sometimes you'll get a plant that displays some inferior traits. I would just flower and harvest as usual and be thankful for some of that good ole' homegrown.

Are you using any of the Fox Farm Powders?? I went through 5 grows without any kind of high phosphorus pusher like those powders give. I just used the liquids by fox farm and all the different strains I grew came out fluffy and smelled the same.

I'm on my first grow using Monster Bloom by Grotek in place of all 3 FF powders. I'm a month and a half out. I'll let you know what happens.

Adding nitrogen in small amounts are ok I use FF tiger at 2-8-4. Just be careful I burn my girls cause I started full strenth instead of 1/4 or 1/2. Try molasses I did and the girls started fatting up and got more dense. Its not miracle shit but it does help.

i have had the same problem, in my last grow as well as my current grow. of 4 plants, 2 are mushy, weird! i watered a little more often and cranked the fan up a notch and it really helped. i honestly dont think its genetics because i grow from clones from the same plant. you may try airriating the soil so it gets more evenly wet when watered. good luck........................

sounds like u jus gt a fluffy strain m8.. post sum pics to define fluffy.. i always go till the buds start clumping into nice swollen calyxes and the hairs seem to recede ,, but obviously its cos the buds swollen:) i always flush for 2 weeks so i go by the leaves yellowing off and the calyxes swelling, then i will check trichs, if they at least all cloudy and a few amber they gt chopped dwn,

seems like this is a common problem.. I have seen 400 watt lights make DENSE HARD NUGGS and 1000 watt lights make airy loose bud, but its not all due to the light, trimming all the leaves off will cause loose buds, as well as lack of co2 will cause the buds to not get that rock hard action..
