i cheat some of that loss back
i trim the water leaves to where the trichs start and leave them there
just trim the big fans
makes my buds look raggedy
and burns a little woody IMO
but never had any complaints
from people that have sampled
or took some off my hands
honestly think it gives it some awe factor
something that you know isnt commercial i guess
You don't have to defoliate to have manicured buds...
I understand why you do it> Since you don't have side lighting + bad penetration LED.
Topping + bending or CCOB/Crop Circle training will give you the best yields or if you had dropped a few CFL side light down near the bottom buds they will swell into nuggets without removing leaves.
I grow 1000w vert. and get ~2 lb a harvest which can be anywhere from 4-6 mo. depending on strain + Veg. time required. Only 2 plants!

i moved it too the 7 band side kinda the dark side of my box its also cooler on that side think it might help with the finish hoping any way
just figured id take some pics of it with out all the reds
have my veglings under both leds this one took to long
and its going to have to be moved to the back burner
will raise the cfls and probably finish it with mostly those and what ever light it gets from the edge of the led foot print
lol just saw how the camera caught the uv in the last pic
looks like its super bright in a pic can barely even see a flicker when its on ( i know its bad for your eyes)

i was removing stuff in between the canopy and main stalk that was really not getting anything light wise
