1 of 2 plants having yellow, hard, leaves

Hi there,

I'm growing two bubbleicious plants from Nirvana. Up until a couple of days ago, both were growing exactly the same... which is odd, because the one not having problems had its stalk cracked shortly after germination.

What I'm seeing with the other is yellowing leaves at the bottom, which are hard. It had been several days since watering, and I had never added any nutes, so I figured I'd give it a little. Well, it's gotten a little worse since then.

I assumed it was a pH issue, so I broke out my two cheap meters. The more expensive of the two is reading 6.5 in both plants (and ~6.7 on another I have growing from bag seed, which is much further along) while the lesser of the two just reads 5.

It's fallen behind the other plant quite a bit in the last few days of growing. It actually looks to have shrunk (which I guess is possible, if cells aren't being filled with moisture.)

The first two are the "bad" one, and the second two are the "good" one.

Do you think I have anything to worry about? :)

Here are some specifics on it... the good one measures about 3" tall x 3" wide, while the bad one is about 2.5" tall and 2" wide. Up until yesterday, they were both side-by-side each under a 100w equiv 6500 kelvin CFL light. Yesterday I moved them next to my bigger plant to catch rays from 10 of those same lights, with two directly above each of them.

Thanks!

The leaves are turning yellow and then drying up at bottom of plant. (Bottom leaves) There is still lots of new growth at top however mine are 6 weeks old and still only five inches tall. I tried to get response from someone but nothing so far. Please let me know if you figured this problem out.

these plants are plenty old enough to get some nutes, possible needs nitrogen. nitrogen is the main element for growth 1/2 strength fertilizer formula should get it back on track. cannabis plants like a regular watering cycle. water once a week with fertilizer formula at 1/2 stength or once every 2 weeks with fertilizer formula at 100%, but still water once a week with regular water between feedings

I wish i knew more about soil growing so that i could help. I see these types of problems over and over in the soil forums...I feel bad for the growers.

I mean 6 weeks old and only 5 inches tall....Man, that is a real problem. No growth at all.

I guess I'll start by asking what kind of nutes you are using? and what kind of soil? I'm asking both of you with the same problems.. Let's see if we can't get this figured out...

The next time I attempt a grow, should the wifey not slaughter me, I'll probably attempt a DWC - at least that way I'd have more control over what's going into the plant.

I'm using 'organic' potting soil from Lowes. I don't remember the brand, but it was essentially 0.5-0.5-0.5, so no real nutes in it at all. I noticed that I stated I never added nutes, but that's not entirely true, I seem to have forgotten the first day :) Having read and re-read these forums for weeks before starting, I added blood meal (15-0-0 i think) to the soil to get a decent nitrogen level. The same ratio's for blood meal to soil are the same in both plants, which equates about a 3 handfull's to a 2g pot and mixed well. I was actually worried about that not being consumed quickly, but maybe that's not warranted. I have some fish emulsion thats 5-0-0, and will mix it together for their dinner tonight and see how that goes.

LadyLover1971, I'll definitely let you know. Perhaps your lighting is falling off before its getting to those leaves? I'm no expert, maybe someone else can step in here, but would an individual leaf have issues if it's not receiving adequate light? I know the light intensity falls fast - but don't know if individual leaves suffer.

These plants are about a week and a half old so I assume they're growing pretty quickly. My other plant seemed to have hit a growth stunt after a few weeks of living inside 3/4th of a 1g milk jug, once I moved it to a much larger pot it blew up.
