Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% (Suitable for extraction?)

Using the rice cooker method with 94% grain alcohol, then 120deg C in the oven to finish it off... Just wondering if it's normal to end up with a bit of solid residue among the oil, it's like wax. Did not get this when I used to use 99.9% ISO before.

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I had to wire everything up in a hurry, to put it into use for the flower cycle of my first grow... So this is temporary/test wiring setup: I'm one week away from harvest, so when it's done, I will take the light assembly down and re-wire everything in a nice tidy way with conduits...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

It was harder than I thought to source double sided 2oz thick copper clad board to make my PCB. 1oz is available everywhere, but not 2oz. Anyway, board is done. Next step is building the harness with 12awg wires, Molex Mega-Fit plugs and snakeskin to wrap it up. Good thing I can borrow a...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

Power distribution board design, with surface mount 3A fuses and Molex Mega-Fit input/output connectors. Next is going to be the power supply box that contain another PCB, all the Meanwell LED drivers, a 12V Meanwell DC power supply for the fans and the Coralux Storm LED controller. The...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I'd like to be able to control everything from the Coralux, so my fan controller needs to be able to use either the 10V analog channel or the 5V PWM channel as a trigger to turn my 12VDC fans on/off.

Interesting, I'll look into it, thanks.

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

Updated my design with 80/20 T-Slot bars to make the assembly more modular: Almost ready to test the COBs: In terms of wiring, the COBs will be connected in parallel (4 per 600watt driver) with a 3A quick blow fuse protecting each COB. Since I plan to house the drivers away from the...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I am planning to run the center COB softer to minimize the hotspot. I'll do some testing next week to figure out how much softer. Also, I'd never run the whole light assembly at more than 90% load, so this would be the absolute max, for the 12/12 cycle: 1825 3500K90Min 9 COBS @2520 mA ON...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

So according to RapidLED, the HLG-600H turns off when it's dimmed to 0V, but the HLG-150H (all lower models than the 320) will not, it will stay on, dimly lit... This kinda sucks, this means I can't control all three the same way. I would need a relay and a signal to shut it off, or upgrade it...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

It will run with the rest of them. I have a Coralux Storm LED controller (with a 10V analog converter from RapidLED) and plan to use separate channels for the drivers. The controller itself will also be plugged into the UPS, and I'm assuming it isn't receiving any feedback from the drivers, so...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I might end up with the BJB if I don't have much luck with my own holder. The nuts for the fan screws are designed to be press-fitted into the sheet metal (5052-H32 aluminum is fairly soft). Normally, special tooling is required, but I've done it often with just a bench vice.

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

To get the ball rolling, I've finalized the COB LED engine, and will produce a couple of them within the next few days to validate the thermal design, before I make all nine of them. The heatsink I'm using is the 5.375" profile from HeatsinkUSA (7" long section), and the fan is a Corsair SP120...

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I can certainly share my CAD files. I have a Fusion3 F-400S at my disposition for prototyping. Right now, my concern is the metal insert to make it solder-less. Looking for something off the shelf preferably.

    CLU058 build with HLG-600H-54B drivers

I'm going to use this thread to document the build of my first LED light assembly, based on nine CLU058-1825 COBs driven moderately hard (100~130watts) by a pair of Meanwell HLG-600H-54 drivers (4 COBs each), with a third driver (HLG-150H-54B) dedicated for the center COB alone, which will stay...

Two week old seedlings in coco (first grow)

The advice is much appreciated. Right now, my issue I think is light. The 17watt T5 over my dome is just not enough to allow me to water every day. Is that possible?

Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

Is there a 90deg reflector designed specifically for the CLU058? Or is the modified one that came with my CLU058-1825 light engine from CobKits the only solution? I'm not sure what p/n is it anyway, it's not written on it and I don't see it on the site either.

Two week old seedlings in coco (first grow)

I have enough 3 gal. and 7 gal. smart pots as well. Can I go from solo to the 3 gal? Or is that still too much of a jump? I was planning to do an 8 week veg.

Two week old seedlings in coco (first grow)

Ok, so with my 60/40 coco/perlite, I can feed to run off, every day without worry? Does this apply to this stage only, or is it the same once I go to my 9gallon smartpots in my 5x5 tent and a 600 watt COB LED light?

Two week old seedlings in coco (first grow)

Nice. Is it not true that seeds contain all necessary nutrients for the first 7~10 days? When you feed every day, do you do it until it drains? As it is my first time, over watering is my biggest fear.
