Phillips Elite Agro 315w T12 CMH in open fixtures - Impressive!!!

5' diameter is ~15.5' circumference X 6' = ~93 sq. ft. generaly speaking about 100 sq t. would need about 4K lights if lighting with 1K bulbs. Or about 6x600W bulbs. So you could get by with 6x315W or perhaps up it to 8. If you go 315, you can also tan by standing in there for a few minutes...

lack of weight is prolly a lack of watts (Umols) per sq foot. they are not that expensive. a ballast is 150$ from Philips, and the sockets are 10-20$ each. the bulb is ~75$ so you are spending a little more than a typical setup, but the bulbs last WAY longer and it is way better light...

Not to be a dick, but that reflector would be great for a parking lot, but suck in a garden. IMHO

We measured with a crappy lumen meter under two two identical reflectors. We placed it on marks layed out every 6" on a piece of white plywood under a pair of smaller footprint air cooled reflectors that we had. I swapped the socket on one and we set them up side by side and took measurements...

Yes. from a PAR point of view they would be a little more than 2 1K. I have personally measured a 315 and found it within 5% of 600W MH bulbs. Since all the data i can find is that 600W bulb is !60-75% of 1K bulbs, it should be pretty comparable. What is your reflector plan tho?

One could argue that a reflected vert looses at least 5% from the reflection. horizontal at least gets half the light unreflected.

If you find a good reflector at a decent price let me know. I am currently using wings in which i replaced the mogul socket with a PGZ. I would love that sun system LEC if they just sold the square vertical reflector. So I could add my own remote ballast.

Agreed. We need to grow and share and learn more in order to understand better what is better. What vertical reflector are you running? At this point I Think it is the reflectors that are very weak. I was looking to design my own. But if you have a good one...

Toms a great guy. Will talk your ear off if you let him. Knows a hella alot. Those options are not available. AFAIK the will just send the mogul bulb if you order his combo kit. If you call him all things are possible.

If Advanced Tech is offering the agro that is a big change! He used to call the Agro the 'dildo lamp', and dislikes them greatly compared to the mogul version, last time I talked to him 3 months ago. The Mogul version has slightly less PPF/W than the agro, and much shorter lifespan, but way...

Advance tech only uses the MOGUL bulb, right? Philips data here... http://www.ecat.lighting.philips.com/l/lamps/high-intensity-discharge-lamps/ceramic-metal-halide/mastercolor-cdm-elite-mw-mogul-base/67292/cat/ It only comes in 4140K, right? So that's why they don't have 3100K data. Also that...
