    First Time Grow/Mystery Seed

I notice in one of your pics it looks like you have dirt right up under the leaves. Bad idea as this holds moisture down on the soil which promotes mold and fungus and it doesn't allow fresh air to the undersides of the leaves which is where they do their breathing. Clear a finger's width of...

    First Time Grow/Mystery Seed

FYI: CFLs throw their light primarily off the sides of the spirals and have a dark spot off the tip, so that light you have directly over the cup that you think is pointing light right down on your plant is actually throwing it's light at the walls of your box. Not major, though, because of the...

    First Time Grow/Mystery Seed

I also use the MG:OC potting soil for my grow. I highly recommend mixing it 3:1 with some perlite. And don't forget that you won't need to feed your baby for several weeks with that soil.

    2nd CFL Grow

Might I suggest a reflector of some kind to regain all those lumens you're losing to the ceiling? Also, training might help you maximise the space you have. LST and ScrOG are popular for keeping height low. I haven't pic updated in a while, but feel free to poke thru the two logs in my sig...

    Light cycle for unsprouted seeds?

Unsprouted seeds need no light at all. They need water, air, a medium and heat, but they don't need light until they have leaves. The cotelydons (the first little nubby round leaves) provide what photosyntesis doesn't until the plant has it's first true leaves. *edit* I'm betting what you...

first cfl grow + bag seed. real low budget!

Hopefully this is a stupid question: Did you remember to poke drainage holes in your cups so excess water can leave the medium?

    1st grow N dresser w/CFLs

You'll want to flower them soon, then. I'd advise looking into training them (LST, ScrOG, topping, whatever). You're overwatering. It is very healthy for a plant to go through complete wet/dry cycles, it is not healthy to have the root zone constantly moist..ie. you want the soil to dry out...

My first grow cfl all the way

As long as you're aware the nutes are there and adjust your feeding accordingly, there is absolutely no reason to be scared of pre-nute'd soil like the dreaded Miracle Grow. I've used MG for years with all kinds of plants, including MJ (I'm using their Organic Choice potting soil in my grow...

    First Grow

Give them a couple of weeks to veg, transplant them a couple days before you flower, change bulbs when you switch to 12/12 and 100 actual watts per plant is a reasonable rule of thumb. Good luck

    Advantage V. disadvantage CFL's

Only total newbs try to grow tall trees under CFLs, and only haters use this to base claims that CFLs suck. CFLs produce better quality light, HID produce greater quantity of light. CFLs absolutely can produce as well as a same wattage HID...if the grower isn't a clueless newb.

    First Grow, CFL 1 Plant

Yes, you'll want intake as well as exhaust vents...IMO for a small space like that, your much better off with a passive intake/active exhaust, or passive on both with your fan just circulating air letting it enter and exit the vents as needed. You should be taking your temps at soil and/or...

    6 PLANT 2x2x4 THEORY

I see what you're going for. Pin/tie the branches to the walls of the box and put the lights to the middle. In Victorian times the French popularized a method of training fruit trees such as cherries to the inner walls of kitchen gardens. It would absolutely work, but would be possibly be...

    lst one week into flowering?

When I tie my plants down, here's what I do: 1. Crush the inner hurd of the stem, a.k.a. "suppercropping". I pinch and work several inches of the stem where I'm going to be bending it. Once the stem is floppy and pliable... 2. Using breadties, I secure the plant to the rim of the pot...

    lst one week into flowering?

My suggestion would be to learn what you're talking about before you post. Just because you saw some crappy buds grown by a clueless newb under CFLs doesn't mean CFLs are worthless. Fact of the matter is CFLs produce a better quality of light than HID lamps do, HID lamps produce a greater...

Shoe Box CFL grow with pics

Will it work? Absolutely. You have all the conditions needed for plant growth. Will it be "worth it"? Unlikely other than to prove your point.

    what am i doing wrong?

    1. Was the soil you bought garden soil or potting soil? It makes a difference. 2. MG has slow release nutes in it, so adding extra nutes is likely what hurt your plant. I'd say 90%+ of the time when someone complains about MG, it's because they don't know how to work with it, overfeed...

First Grow with CFL's using bagseed

Another +rep for sticking it out. Those buds look pretty dense. As long as you're always learning, the next run will always be better. Can't wait to see your fresh start. Big pic update in my journal (second sig link), I'd love to know what y'all think of mine.

Shack's 125W CFL DIY Tent Grow

Looking great, bro! Looking foward to watching these beauties grow and fingers crossed your clones take for ya. I've been fighting with cloning for a bit now, and since I built a bubble cloner, I think I've gotten a handle on it. Feel free to take a peek through my journal in my sig (second...
