Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

All that is left after harvest. The remains of Early Skunk, just left those small buds to mature, wanted to see how well it handled more rain and cold etc. Frisian Ducks + Early Skunk is still drying. Will update the journal when everything is curing, with a picture of all the grove bags :hump:

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

I just this year bought a manual bowl trimmer, which saved me several hours so far just trimming all the small nuggets. My budget doesn't allow any of the fancy things you're considering, but I for sure want to find ways to avoid trimming as much as possible. Even the part of prepping buds for...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

I've started the harvest of the Frisian Ducks and the Early Skunk. It's taking a shitload of time, harvesting, washing, pre-trimming. Spent like 4 hours yesterday and as you can see in the picture I didn't get very far. Harvested the Skunk and the Frisian Duck in the ground and all the biggest...

VPD and drying - An overview

I think so too, but I don't know enough about when and how mold forms to put it into words. I believe when you're drying at like, 10c, the chances of mold are minimal, so lotus drying might be the best way to dry, other than freeze drying. Only downside would be that some terpenes start...

How to harvest plants with budrot?

Thanks! It's okay. Next year I'm running auto flowers and early strains to avoid it :eyesmoke: I don't have to worry about the toxins if I make edibles?

How to harvest plants with budrot?

But, the mold should grow, right? So the longer I wait, the easier it will be to see if there's budrot? Because, if there's budrot on one bud in the bag, the entire bag is trash. It's not like I can save anything by detecting the budrot right now, right?

How to harvest plants with budrot?

I know the title is a bit vague. But my question is about, how to ensure that what I harvested is okay to consume. I currently have around 5 oz worth of Frisian Dew in Grove bags. When harvesting I washed the bud in water and also in hydrogen peroxide. I cut away all the buds that had bud...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Just had bud rot in two buds on one of the Frisian Ducks, going to harvest them on Tuesday I think. Having contractors over on Monday and they will be in my drying room, so.. Tuesday it is! I hope the mold doesn't spread on the harvested buds. I've trimmed and bagged two big grove bags...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Trimmed all the larger buds. They're still small and larfy and airy, but there's still a decent amount. Will probably end up making good edibles. Still have all the small stuff, will throw it all in the bowl trimmer tomorrow and bag it. First picture is during trim, just to show off a...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Early skunk starting to turn purple, cool cool cool. They're both pretty thick. Don't know how long to wait. Will probably give them a few more weeks if weather allows it.

Drying in 70% humidity? Can I use a regular household fridge instead?

I think your 20c/70% humidity location is better than your 5c/60% humidity location. You can't really get bud rot at 5c as far as I know, but other molds can infect your bud if kept wet for long I believe. (It would stay wet really long in a fridge at 5c and 60% humidity, and would take almost...

Drying in 70% humidity? Can I use a regular household fridge instead?

What temps and humidity do you have in your fridge? You need to put the hygrometer in there to know how it compares. Drying in a fridge is possible, perhaps it's better than your current conditions. No way to know unless you measure.

Will there be any decent weed left of this?

We shall see! Thanks for the input. I'm keeping my eyes open, what else can I do? So far I'm not seeing anything, but I will look every bud over when I trim it.

Will there be any decent weed left of this?

I've never had this sad-looking of a harvest before. It's not that the quantity is bad, but the quality just looks like shit. It's a Frisian Dew I had to harvest early because it was getting bud rot in a new bud almost daily. So it's prematurely harvested. I'm just wondering if anyone has...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Thanks for the recommendations, but I'm asking, does early really make a difference? Because looking at the flowering time for the Cream Caramel, for instance, says 49-56 days. That's not that much different from Frisian Dew, for instance, and it's not "early" at all in my climate. Is early...

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Do you know how early the earliest, early versions are? Because I did consider it, I feel like no matter what photoperiod I pick it will be late in my climate. Like the Frisian Dew is supposed to be "early" but would still be going rn if it wasn't for budrot.

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Might do just that. Good idea. Next year will be 3 autos and 1 photoperiod. I like the idea of finishing in early September before all the rain but after all the strongest sun. Early skunk could be the photoperiod if it "wins" this year on taste/effects. :eyesmoke:

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Same. They're both starting to look really nice. Somehow the Early Skunk is the best-looking of all the plants. And it had the least care and attention and just sat in the ground.

Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Early Skunk is stealing the show. Looks dank. Frisian Duck is fattening up. I'm surprised they're this slow. At this pace it will take at least 2 or 3 weeks to finish
