Would just venting the air out of the closet into my room work well enough to keep it cool, ive read mixed reports on people having problems while others were just fine. Would running the lights at night and have them off during the day help with keeping cool too?(my room is usually colder at night)

The thing i like about the link i put up is the fact that it has a dimmable ballast, it has "Dimmable Option: 50%, 75% & 100%" so i could theoretically turn it down to 200w or 300w depending on if it gets too hot

Yeah i figured out my original design would take way too many cfl bulbs to get a good light output. Im probably gonna scale mine down to a 2'x2' like you did. Im kind of leaning towards doing a 250W/400W hps right now, it seems to be a little more expensive than the cfl bulbs but not by much and...
