The brightness is dramatically less than a 6.5 watt cree bulb. Very dramatically less.

If you look for "drill press attachment" you should find quite a few options I think.

Have you considered just supercropping the tall branch rather than clipping it right off? Can't be any worse than clipping it off, and would probably save the branch.
