    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

My shortpath cost me $45.00 usd. That includes shipping. Most of my glassware is under $50.00 usd. The most expensive piece I own is the soxhlet apparatus. It cost me about $60.00 usd Science tools in america are way over inflated. That is why I source my supplies from out of the country. I...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

I already have most of the equipment needed. Glassware isn't the issue. Plus I have a source in china that can get me quality glassware for a fraction of the cost in america. The heating mantle, and a decent vacuum source are the 2 big things I still lack. Those will come soon enough. I should...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

Yes, this is a lot of work for such a small amount. However, I am not doing this for profit. Right now I am exploring the science and trying to figure out the possibilities. This is fun and exciting for me. I may still be able to have this failed attempt tested. Since THC breaks down when...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

I think that the 250mL one I used is fine for anything an ounce or lower. I am going to recommend not using the thimble though. The thimble made it so that the top of the weed was not getting submerged in the solvent. Tea bagging is the way to go since you can fill out the vessel while keeping...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

I spaced completely. Must have been high or something. I have a feeling that soxhleting would work if you had much more starting material. I had my hot plate cranked at 550c for an hour and nothing came over. I started low and slowly cranked it up over the course of 2 hours. plus.... it turned...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

Ok, this did not go as planned. The extract would not distill over, and I ended up charring it. The theory is that there was not enough resin/terpenes to distill and what I had was mostly wax, fat, and chlorophyll. I suspect this was due to the very poor quality of the weed I used. All is...

    Chloroform Extraction- First Attempt

Yea, I will try a few things. Worse case, I can just fill it with warm water and have both ends of the tubes held above the water line. The distillation should keep it plenty warm and insulated. Probably use a heat gun if I have to warm it a bit. I'll figure it out. I will be doing it tonight...

Yea I think it's the same thing. Also about the running warm water through the condenser. I wonder if a fish tank heater would do the job
