I have a 6'x7' with 1000 w hps set up i am in week 1 of vegging and they look healthy as can be but i have fluorescent bulbs accenting the light. my hps is about 2.5' away from tops and no bad results yet. my friend said that i should use a lower watt bulb for vegging 1/2 the wattage or less...

all of my plants the Pineapple chunk and northern lights are a week into veg at 18/6 and are just starting their 4th nodes at the base of all the nodes its starting leaves. i though this wouldn't happen for another week...? they are only 3-5 inches tall. should i start topping or is it to early...
