Feminized seeds - but I actually want males

Ga3 and colloidal silver also work (sometimes). I think all 3<Ga3, CS and STS> will produce fem seeds though. TGA and Mr. Nice have a ton of regular seeds. I just picked the closest thing I could get to what strain I wanted to play with (in regular seeds) and crossed em. I did it for fun and...

    Question for the experienced grower

They also use those lower fan leaves with no connected limb as storage centers.

    My plants keep toppling over

I know, the THC in my brain had me designing some scaffolding out of pipe cleaners for additional support and weight distribution. Possibly a tiny rain gutter system for easy watering with a nice even moisture level.

    My plants keep toppling over

yeah, fill the pot all the way up. You could also use one of those fuzzy pipe cleaners, make a small hole in the rim of the pot, anchor the pipe cleaner to the pot and make a loop several times bigger than the stem. The bristles don't create pressure points on the stem. I use them to LST with.

    hps or led

I have honestly never considered CFL's, I started with a 2' 8 bulb T-5 then a 4' 8 bulb T-5 then on to HPS. Now I've been on LED's (plus my old lights) for about 18 months. I have a gap in my new room design that would require another LED.....I think I'll fill it with CFL's. Getting another LED...

LEDs, all blue for veg, all red for flower??

I got better results using all spectrum's for both. The blue in veg helps with stretching and the far red at the end of the daily cycle also helps.

    hps or led

i've seen them advertised, but have never heard any results from a grow. Going coco is by far the best decision I've made in a long time. No more why are my leaves curling up/down/turning yellow/getting spots/showing signs of lockout or deficiency/thought it was a deficiency so the lockout is...

    hps or led

about .5 or so is my average too. Switching to coco from soil has helped a lot, but I have terrible luck with the pheno's I get. I took a few steps back and ordered some more established and stable strains.....oh yeah, a few of the strains I tried didn't like the LED's as much as the others >so...

    hps or led

LED side lighting is a good idea. I would also like to try an Induction Fluorescent light rather than the T-5. I would like to see a few more grows with one first (and plasmas cost way too much, but they might be the best of all if the tech advances like LED's have over the past 2 years).

    hps or led

i'm trying different combo's of light positions and turning my 600w hps down to 400. Those pics are from the LSD's. 3 of 5 beans had twins and they all died, 1 had a little tiny seed in each calyx (from week 3) with 2 hairs coming out of the...hinge/a-hole of each seed > and the last one became...

    hps or led

I use Both. In my experience using LED's in the first 3 weeks has really cut down on the stretching and gives me better yields because a higher % of the plant is in the optimal growth zone as far as distance from the light goes....I'm on a 3 week rotation with LED's on one end and HPS on the...

    Breeding 101 Subs Method

Great thread. I was so disappointed with my Barney's Tangerine Dream/ Pineapple Chunk/ LSD order I went back to bagseed. When I finally decided to order again picking a strain was hard because everything seems to be one giant mix and match of everyone's combined genes bred just stable enough to...

Best way to get rid of thrips and spidermites??

Abamectin E Pro 0.15 (which is the same as avid) protects for 4 weeks and kills aphids, thrips, spidermites and whiteflies. Floramite and Forbid work great also, but I wouldn't use any of them past the first week of flowering.

sorry for the double post and turning you thread into a FFOF discussion Mrwhitewidow. Good luck with your smart pots, I love them.

    3 gallon smart pots

I have watch my own personal strain (random female bagseed #1 x random male bagseed #1= BRB *baby random bagseed) it grows so quickly in FFOF that if I let it veg for 5 days or more past it's flip day it will get to tall in flower. It's a stretcher, sativa dominant with noodly stems, airy buds...

    3 gallon smart pots

I've used OF for seedlings and young clones for years, but for some reason my LSD's and Tangerine Dreams get nute burn from it.....my 1 pineapple chunk grow got nute burn too. Maybe it's the Barneys and not the FF.

    3 gallon smart pots

for me OF dries out pretty quickly in smart pots, I'm trying fine tune a mix that will drain the (wetness) quickly, but keep the moisture a little longer. So far +5% Perlite and +10% peat is doing a little better, but this is is just for my space/light/temp/humidity levels. It might be perfect...

    3 gallon smart pots

a 1.5 cu ft bag of FFOF is a little over 38.6 dry quarts (9.65 gallons), but I personally wouldn't put seedling or young clones into pure FFOF. The 2 strains I have from Barneys would get bad nute burn and possibly die, the other strain I have does fine in FFOF at almost any size. I can fill 5 -...
