I would think you could get 4 plants in there. What size light? Do you plan to have a fan blowing on them?

You could always use light movers and need less ballasts. You'll still drop about $300 or more on the light mover but if you could drop from 4 1000w hps to only 2 it would pay for itself.

Looking at your pics, I think you have a digital ballast. You can plug an MH or an HPS bulb into them and they'll work. You don't need a conversion bulb for a digital ballast, just "plug and play" either type of bulbs.

I would suggest getting a tent or converting a small closet space. You'll want about 1m width and depth. and 1.5/2m tall. Get a digital ballast 400 or 600 watts. You can run MH or HPS bulbs in digital ballasts. If you're converting a closet, you can just paint the walls flat white. A tent will...

Are you planning on adding more lights? I would think that's a lot of plants for 4 bulbs. Maybe some Y's and double the amount of light when they get bigger.

I would think that if you had the resistance of a carbon filter on one side of a Y and a open end on the other you'd pull a lot more air via the open end than the filtered end.
