    got some blueberry growing in the backyard and it's doing well, but i suspect one of the bigger bushes is a male. if this is the case, i'd like to get rid of it now so i can start training the female next to it to fill in the new space. these preflowers have the 'ball on a stick' appearance...

    while i'm waiting for my digi camera to work, i took some pics with my cellphone. quality isn't as great, but it's better than nothing. you can see the blue/purp color starting to come in on the egdges of the fan leaves in the closeups. the 2 big ones are the ones i planted a bit earlier.

    one more question: should i at some point clip lower fan leaves and branches so they don't compete for air/water? if so, when should i do this? also, if anyone has experience w. outdoor grows in the midwest US region, when can i expect them to begin flowering?
