A cautionary tale. Don't make the same mistake.

Well this is a sad story but I decided to share it so you don't make the same mistakes I did. My first grow. Living in Spain and growing 4 plants (feminsed seeds from Greenhouse Seed Company). Wanted to utilise the good strong Spanish sun, so the plants spend their day next to open balcony...

Topping - trying to sort the facts from the fluff

I want to top my plants and would appreciate any advice. I did a lot of reading on rollitup and have to say that there is a lot of contradictory stuff written. In particular I'd like to know: • when to top • is topping really worth it? some people say that topping doesn't really increase...

My indoor grow is an outdoor grow?

Thought this might interest some people. I live in Spain and wanted to utilise the long sunny days we have right now. So my plants spend the days in front of open balcony doors. They get good light all day including 5 or 6 hours of direct sun. Then when the sun goes down i move them under 5 x...

    Yellow leaves - water issues?

Hi all I'd really appreciate your opinions on this. I have 5 plants, almost 3 weeks old. I live in Spain with long hours of good sunlight so this is my regime: During the day the plants sit next to open balcony doors. They get good light all day including probably about 5 or 6 hours of direct...

    Yellow coty's normal?

My plants are coming up to three weeks old and looking healthy and happy but their coty's have started to turn yellow. Is this normal or are the plants trying to tell me something? I presumed that after a time they dont need the cotys any more and they would just, well drop off.

    The story of 'the runt'

You know when a litter of pigs is born there is sometimes one that is smaller than the rest? He (or she) has a problem because if there is more pigs than tits available then they have to fight to get milk and the little one is at disadvantage - right? And the less milk it gets the slower it...

    Re-planting - bury up to coty's ok?

jus wondering - my seedlings stretched a bit during first week of life and when I re-pot I was considering burying them up to their coty's, or just below coty's to compensate for the stretching. Is this cool for the plants or not good?

    CFL - kelvin rating

I'm using 25 watt CFL's on my seedlings. I can't find the kelvin rating of them anywhere - either on the packaging or on the bulbs themselves. The shop where I bought is too far to return at the moment cause I'm busy, and I couldn't find a website for the bulb manufacturer. So...I wondered if...

    CFL's: What watt?

I was just wondering - when you all quote the wattage of cfl's on 'Rollitup' are you quoting the actual wattage of the bulb or the equivalent incandescent wattage? I ask this because some of the cfl's that people say they are using have very high wattages. For example in this thread...

Hi all Are jiffy pellets a good choice for germinating? Yesterday I posted a request for help on the use of jiffy pellets, and although I got some good help I'm still in 2 minds on whether to go with jiffy pellets or paper towels. I serched the forums but didn't find the definitive...

    jiffy pellets - help please

I know that many people (maybe most people) germinate on moist paper towels but my local grow shop recommended jiffy pellets. I bought them but now I'm not so sure they are ok. I'm planning to soak them in water, put one seed per pellet on top the pellet, then put the pellets in a small dish and...

Hi all First off can I say that I'm new here and if I have posted this in the wrong forum then please accept my apologies. Everyone makes mistakes. I have never grown my own before but plan to. As I live in Spain and enjoy long, sunny summers I planned to do it the simple way, not bother...
