Hey just saw your post. Here is my opinion from my experience... 1) I have had a couple big fan leaves do the same thing for no reason as well and it doesn't seem to effect the plant at all. 2)Cut the dead leaves off because they are only wasting energy that could be spend on growing some buds...

The plant gets pretty tall before you can tell what sex it is so I would go ahead and plant in a full size pot ( 1 ft. x 1ft ). Also so you don't have to worry about trying to re-plant it later.
